Job summary

Celestix Industries is seeking an experienced Tool Design & Development Manager to lead tooling design for our Copper Cable Lugs & Sheet Metal Division. You will own the tooling lifecycle from concept to production support, designing progressive dies, press tools and copper tooling.

Proficiency in AutoCAD and SolidWorks is essential. The role requires hands-on expertise in copper components, tooling optimization, and cross-functional coordination with production, quality, and procurement

Qualifications

  • B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering is required.
  • Diploma in Mechanical/Tool Engineering is preferred.
  • Tool & Die Making Certification is advantageous.

Responsibilities

  • Lead tool design and development for copper lugs and sheet metal tooling.
  • Prepare 2D drawings and 3D models; maintain BOM and tooling documentation.
  • Develop tooling for copper cable lugs, terminals, and sheet metal components.
  • Provide production support and drive continuous improvement in tooling.
  • Participate in new product development and prototype validation.
  • Coordinate with production, quality, design, and suppliers to ensure tooling success.
  • Mentor junior designers and promote best practices in tooling design.

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced and technically strong Tool Design & Development Manager to lead tooling design and development for our newly established Copper Cable Lugs & Sheet Metal Division.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in designing, developing, and optimizing tooling for copper terminals, cable lugs, sheet metal components, progressive dies, and press tools. The role requires complete ownership of the tooling lifecycle—from concept design and development to production support and continuous improvement.

The candidate should possess hands‑on expertise in:

  • Progressive Die Design
  • Sheet Metal Tooling
  • Copper Component Manufacturing
  • Press Tool Development
  • 2D & 3D Design using AutoCAD and SolidWorks
Key Responsibilities
1. Tool Design & Development

Design and develop:

  • Progressive Dies
  • Compound Dies
  • Piercing Tools
  • Bending Tools
  • Forming Tools
  • Copper Lug Tooling
  • Sheet Metal Press Tools
2. Engineering Design & Documentation

Prepare and maintain:

  • 2D Manufacturing Drawings
  • 3D Models & Assemblies
  • Tool Layouts
  • Strip Layouts
  • Bill of Materials (BOM)
  • Tooling Documentation
  • Engineering Change Records
3. Product Tool Development

Develop tooling for:

  • Copper Cable Lugs
  • Copper Terminals
  • Sheet Metal Brackets
  • Precision Sheet Metal Components
  • Battery Lugs
  • Busbar Components

Optimize tooling designs to:

  • Maximize material utilization
  • Improve productivity
  • Reduce manufacturing costs
  • Enhance tool life and performance
4. Production & Manufacturing Support
  • Support tool trials and pilot production.
  • Troubleshoot tooling and production‑related issues.
  • Modify and improve existing tooling for better efficiency.
  • Ensure tooling meets production requirements for:
    • Tool Life
    • Productivity
    • Cycle Time
    • Product Quality
  • Provide technical support during new product launches.
5. New Product Development (NPD)
  • Participate in new product development projects.
  • Design tooling for newly developed products.
  • Coordinate prototype development and validation.
  • Support engineering changes and product improvements.
6. Cross‑Functional Coordination

Coordinate closely with:

  • Production Team
  • Tool Room
  • Quality Department
  • Design & Engineering Team
  • Vendors
  • Machine Suppliers
  • Procurement Team

Ensure smooth execution of tooling development and production activities.

7. Team Leadership
  • Guide and mentor junior tool designers and tool room technicians.
  • Review tooling designs and engineering documentation.
  • Promote best practices in tooling design and manufacturing.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the tooling department.
