Press Tool Designer
Responsible for the end-to-end design and development of sheet metal dies and tooling systems.
- Concept & Layout Design: Study part / drawings to develop tool concepts for progressive and single & multi stage tools compound and Deep drawing tools.
- Tool design Calculations & Economics: Perform calculations for press tonnage, shut height, die set size, and strip layouts to optimize material utilization (scrap reduction).
- Detailed Tool Design & Detailing: Create precise 2D/3D of Tool assembly drawing and part drawing and drawings for manufacturing (punches, inserts, strippers, lifters, and cam mechanisms etc.)
- Material Selection: Identify and select suitable tool steels (ferrous and non-ferrous) and heat treatment process based on material and sheet metal thickness and properties.
- Tool Trials & Debugging: Supervise tool progress, assembly, and component trials at the press shop to resolve issues and modify designs were ever necessary.
- Documentation & Compliance: Manage Bill of Materials (BOM) and Engineering Change Notices (ECN) while ensuring adherence to ISO/ DIN standards.
