Job summary

ABB in Mumbai/Hyderabad is seeking a testing specialist to help the local unit build capabilities for product and system control, ensuring compliance with internal, customer, and industry standards in a cost-efficient environment.

You will conduct test protocols, support supplier and production quality, and drive training to promote quality and integrity while evaluating data per ABB specifications and global standards.

Qualifications

• BE / B.Tech in Electrical or Electronics Engineering.
• 5–10 years of experience in LV switchgear testing and quality assurance.
• Strong hands-on experience in IEC 61439 testing.
• Exposure to customer handling and site activities.
• Willingness to travel to site locations (Mumbai / Hyderabad).

This Position reports to: Team Lead – Testing

Your Role And Responsibilities

In this role, you will have the opportunity to assist local unit in developing the necessary capabilities to effectively control products and systems. Each day, you will ensure compliance with internal, customer, and industry requirements within a cost-effective and safe working environment. You will also showcase your expertise by participating in the development and implementation of standards and test methods to ensure only compliant products, software, and services are released to the customer.

This role is contributing to the Electrification business in Smart Power division at Mumbai, India.

You will be mainly accountable for:

• Conducting test protocols, as assigned, to ensure products, systems, or software meet specified requirements and customer expectations in incoming, manufacturing, factory test labs, or final inspection quality, including internal testing routine and Factory Acceptance Testing (F.A.T.) as applicable.
• Supporting quality control needs and activities for supplier quality, production quality, testing and validation, and engineering, as applicable in the local organization.
• Executing and assisting specific quality-related training, promoting a passion for quality and integrity in all actions, with a focus on result orientation.
• Collecting, recording, and evaluating data to be interpreted according to the internal ABB specifications, customer norms, and applicable national and/or global standards while maintaining a high level of integrity.

Qualifications For The Role

• BE / B.Tech in Electrical or Electronics Engineering.
• 5–10 years of experience in LV switchgear testing and quality assurance.
• Strong hands-on experience in IEC 61439 testing (Functional, HV, Megger, CT/PT, contact resistance, FAT).
• Exposure to customer handling and site activities.
• Communication testing knowledge will be an added advantage.
• Willingness to travel at site locations (Mumbai / Hyderabad) for extended durations.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
