Job summary

Vola Inc. is seeking a hands-on QA Test Engineer for mobile (Android/iOS) and backend testing in Bengaluru. You will own quality across native apps and backend services, navigating Android Studio, Xcode, Postman, and Kibana to trace issues to their root causes.

You will design, execute, and automate API tests with Postman and Newman, validate backend behavior, write SQL queries, and collaborate with developers, product managers, and DevOps to ensure robust releases.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional software testing experience.

Responsibilities

QA Test Engineer: Mobile (Android/iOS) & Backend Testing

Experience Level: 4–6 years

About the Role

We're looking for a hands-on QA Test Engineer who owns quality across our Android and iOS apps and the backend services behind them. You'll be comfortable moving between Android Studio, Xcode, Postman, and Kibana to catch issues and trace them back to their root cause.

What You'll Do

• Perform end-to-end functional, regression, and UI testing on native Android and iOS apps.
• Use Android Studio (Logcat, Layout Inspector, Profiler) to debug crashes, memory issues, and rendering problems across devices and OS versions.
• Use Xcode / Instruments for equivalent iOS debugging and crash log analysis.
• Test key mobile edge cases: network interruptions, background/foreground transitions, notifications, permissions, and deep links.
• Design, execute, and automate API test suites using Postman and Newman, including CI-integrated collection runs.
• Validate backend behavior for correctness, error handling, and security (auth, input validation, rate limiting).
• Write SQL queries to verify data integrity and backend logic.

Log Monitoring & Root-Cause Analysis

• Use the ELK Stack (Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana) to search and correlate error logs across mobile crashes, APIs, and backend services.
• Build dashboards/saved searches in Kibana to spot error patterns during regression and release cycles.
• Trace bugs from symptom to root cause, connecting app behavior to backend logs and database state.
• Work with developers, product managers, and DevOps to log, prioritize, and track defects to resolution.
• Write clear bug reports with device/OS info, API payloads, and relevant log excerpts.

Required Skills & Experience

• 5+ years of professional software testing experience.

• API testing: strong expertise with Postman and Newman.
