Telecom Engineer Feed Design
Job Summary
The Telecom Engineer is responsible for the design, engineering, and integration of telecommunications systems in Oil & Gas projects, ensuring compliance with safety, quality, and cybersecurity requirements. The role requires strong knowledge of telecom systems, physical design, and relevant international, national, and local standards. It covers all project phases, including FEED, detailed design, and EPC.
He/She should be able to provide technical support to discipline team and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure efficient and cost-effective project execution.
Duties, Responsibilities and Authorities
- Develop project scope of work, master document register, interface matrix under guidance of telecom lead.
- Incorporate health, safety, environmental, and cybersecurity requirements into all designs while ensuring network architecture integrity.
- Prepare and review engineering deliverables: design basis, specifications, network architecture, datasheets, layouts, block diagrams, cable schedules, and BOMs.
- Support design and integration of telecom systems including LAN/WAN, VoIP, CCTV, PAGA, Electronic Personnel On Board (ePOB) and access control, Perimeter Intrusion detection, WIFI, UHF/VHF radio, TETRA, microwave, VSAT, Satellite links, fiber optics and structured cabling.
- Perform telecom field design activities: Power consumption, fibre optic block diagram, IP address plan for telecom systems and data/voice network, cable routing, layouts, bulk MTO, and 3D model reviews.
- Review/prepare telecom datasheets, material requisitions, technical bid evaluations, and vendor documents.
- Ensure designs comply with latest international standards (IEC, ITU, NEC, NFPA, 3GPP, ICAO) and client-specific requirements.
- Collaborate with clients, vendors, subcontractors, and procurement teams for technical discussions, material purchasing, and vendor qualification.
- Participate in design reviews, audits, site surveys, FATs (Factory Acceptance Tests) and SAT (Site Acceptance Tests).
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure seamless telecom integration with other systems.
- Provide input to other discipline packages, bid documents, and construction tenders.
- Support construction teams with engineering guidance and provide training to junior engineers.
Experiences and Qualifications
- 5 to 10 years of experience in Telecom Engineering within Oil & Gas projects
- Bachelors degree in Telecommunications, Electronics, or Electrical Engineering
- Proven attitude to foster collaboration, accountability, and ownership
- Strong communication skills, solution-oriented mindset, and fluency in English
- Proficient in MS Office applications
- Knowledge of telecom system coverage studies.
