Job summary

PeopleStrong seeks a Senior Telecom Designer to lead the design of BTN/DTS backbone transmission and data networking for MRT and mainline projects. The role covers CCTV and facility SCADA integration on rolling stock and infrastructure, with emphasis on IP scheme design and network security policies.

You will create high/low level designs, specify telecom components, plan bandwidth, and prepare documents for regulatory approvals and client reviews across urban infrastructure programs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Technology in engineering is required.
• Post graduate qualification in project engineering and management is preferred.
• Experience designing telecom services for MRT/mainline or urban infrastructure projects is desirable.

Job Description

Summary: The Sr Designer Telecom ( BTNS _CCTV & Facility SCADA) is part of a Team designing Telecom services for an Urban or Transportation &/or Urban Infrastructure project developing the Backbone Transmission Network system and using the same developing Data Networking System on which Data, voice and special applications can be provided by like CCTV & Facility SCADA using the backbone Transmission Network and/ or the Data Networking system within Metro and mainline (or other urban /suburban/ mainline transportation) projects.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Domain Competency: Create/ Design/ Develop concepts, the High Level and Low-Level designs and documentation of BTN /DTS (Backbone Transmission system / Data Networking system) for the telecom services for MRT and Mainline Projects using devices like routers, L2, L3, BTN switches, servers, copper cables (twisted pairs, hollow core), fibers and Indoor and Outdoor Wi-Fi networks using the networking protocols, Interface Protocols like Modbus, SNMP, SNTP, NTP, MIB, ASCII, MIB etc., device configuration among others.

Create/ develop schemes/ design the IP Scheme for the network and implement the Network security Policies. Plan necessary bandwidth, channels for different services, calculate and allocate bandwidth to other Telecom subsystems, signaling system, AFC System, PSD System and any other element in the network (like Traction SCADA/AFL).

Create/ Design/ Develop Low level and high level designs for FSCADA and CCTV (Infrastructure/ Onboard rolling stock/ their integration) and use the BTN/DTS systems to integrate and optimize these applications.

Design, rate, specify, customize Power supply, customize backup UPS for the DTN/BTS telecom systems.

Create Interface requirements, Develop design documents, Interface documents, input documents and configuration for DTN/BTS Systems and Interface requirements for CCTV and Rolling Stock, Telephone and rolling Stock, Access Control and PIDS/PAS etc.

Create/ Design / develop the Testing and Commissioning documents and Procedures of BTN, DTS, FSADA UPS System for MRT and Mainline Projects.

2. Quantity Surveying/Estimation: Prepare detailed quantity take-offs, estimates, and bills of quantities (BOQ) from design drawings and specifications for the Switches, Routers, RTUs, PLA/PLC, Analyse project quantities, lead-costs, material requirements for tenders and ongoing projects based on contract specifications, standards.

Coordination and Discussion with Consultant/Client/Authorities to get approval of Drawings according to requirements of project & standards

Work with engineers and project teams (cross-functional teams) to integrate design information, site conditions, environmental factors, and into the Telecom design/ design drawings.

Coordinate with other team members, including engineers, clients and consultants, to ensure designs are feasible and align with project goals.

Participate in meetings to discuss the project requirements and progress updates.

With L&T Departments for functional support, with other companies in same Domain (EPC Contractors) for keeping UpToDate, with Regulators and clients to influence decisions, with Media to showcase the best and minimize disruption.

Conduct site visits to assess conditions and provide technical support during construction.

Regulatory Compliance: Ensure designs meet all local, state, and national regulations and industry codes (e.g., IEEE/IET/CENLEC/ IRS/CBC/IRC/IS/EN/AASHTO/ASTM).

Preparation, approval and maintenance of design/drawings, specifications, and presentations for clients and regulatory agencies.

Maintaining the ISO Process and keeping necessary records guiding the teams accordingly.

Coordination with Site/Executive Engineers for any technical support/assistance regarding civil execution issues or for any query about drawings.

Provide technical support during construction and conduct site visits to verify design implementation.

Prepare Execution Methods Statements where required.

Review designs for accuracy, quality, and compliance with project requirements and industry standards

Cost Estimation: Estimate materials and construction costs, recommending cost-effective solutions.
