Job summary

LIXIL seeks a Senior Technical Training Specialist to lead the technical training efforts in manufacturing, driving KPI delivery, safety culture, and 5S standards across learning facilities.

You will design learning frameworks, identify gaps with HR and Operations, and run workshops on A-PDCA, Lean, and Kaizen. The role requires 12+ years in manufacturing with 3+ years in training or problem solving, based in India.

Qualifications

• Advanced leadership and mentoring capabilities.
• Experience in developing technical manuals and learning frameworks.
• Deep knowledge of structured problem-solving (7 QC tools, PDCA, Kaizen).
• Curriculum mapping and long-term training calendar management.
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering.
• 12+ years in manufacturing with 3+ years in training or problem solving.

Responsibilities

• Lead, drive, and deliver training objectives and KPI’s in the technical training part of the manufacturing process.
• Maintain safety culture within the training team and ensure a safe and healthy work environment for all associates.
• Drive a strong 5S culture in the training environment and ensure standards of excellence are met.
• Identify training needs and skill gaps with HR and Operations to bridge gaps through learning interventions.
• Create and revise training systems and procedures by analyzing operating practices and certifications.
• Facilitate and conduct technical training programs and workshops, including A-PDCA, Lean Manufacturing, and Kaizen events.
• Implement metrics to measure time-to-autonomy for new hires and effectiveness of upskilling.
• Monitor and analyze the effectiveness of the technical training.
• Develop long-term plans to materialize strategy on Process, People, and Technology.
• Drive apprenticeship and technical certification programs aligned with national standards.
• Mentor the team on problem solving based on LIXIL’s Monozukuri approach.
• Adopt global best practices from other LIXIL facilities.
• Collaborate on updating SOPs for easier, faster, and safer execution.

Job Description: Technical Training Specialist

Reporting to: Leader - Operations

Job Responsibilities

• Lead, drive, and deliver Business Objectives and KPI’s in the Technical training part of the Manufacturing process.
• Maintain and drive a strong Safety culture within the training team and ensure a Safe and Healthy work environment for all associates.
• Drive a strong 5S culture in the training environment and ensure that the Standards of Excellence are delivered across all learning facilities.
• Identify the training needs and skill gaps of the team and work with HR Business partners and Operations leaders on bridging the gap through learning and training interventions.
• Create and revise training systems and procedures by analyzing operating practices, record-keeping systems (certifications), and personnel requirements.
• Facilitate and conduct technical training programs and workshops, including specialized methodologies like A-PDCA, Lean Manufacturing, and Kaizen events.
• Implement metrics to measure "time-to-autonomy" for new hires and the effectiveness of technical upskilling for existing associates.
• Monitor and analyse the effectiveness of the technical training.

Strategic Responsibilities

• Understand the company’s strategy and vision and develop long-term plans to materialize strategy on aspects of Process, People, and Technology.
• Drive strategic projects related to the multi-tier apprenticeship and technical certification programs (aligned with NATS and NAPS) to ensure a robust internal talent pipeline.
• Develop strong bench strength by mentoring the team on Problem Solving methodologies based on Lixil’s Monozukuri way.
• Identify opportunities to implement Global Technical Training Best practices from other Lixil Manufacturing facilities.
• Collaborate with Leaders in continually identifying the Easiest, Fastest, and Safest way of doing things by reviewing and updating Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

Stakeholders

• Internal: Functional Leaders, Team Leaders, HR Business Partners, EHS, Maintenance, and Quality.
• External: Global counterparts of other Lixil Plants, and technical training providers.

Required Skills and Capabilities

• Leadership: Advanced team management, coaching, and mentoring capabilities.
• Instructional Design: Knowledge of developing technical manuals and structured learning frameworks.
• Problem Solving: Deep knowledge of structured problem-solving (7 QC tools, PDCA, Advanced Problem-solving methodologies)
• Strategic Planning: Competency in curriculum mapping and long-term training calendar management.
• Academia: Bachelor’s degree in any stream of engineering
• Professional Experience: At least 12 years’ experience in Manufacturing environment and at least 3 years dedicated to Training or Problem Solving.
