Job summary

Vidya Online Services Pune is seeking a network technician for on-site deployment in Mumbai. You will install, configure, and troubleshoot network devices and OS on physical and virtual machines, while maintaining security software and centralized records.

The role requires 2 years of hands-on networking experience, knowledge of OTDR and cable testing, and willingness to work weekends/holidays. You will report issues via BARCs portal and ensure accurate documentation.

Responsibilities

Job description

Shift Timings :

Deployment: On-site, Monday to Friday, 09:00 AM to 06:00 PM

Key Responsibilities:

• 1.Install, configure, and troubleshoot network terminal devices, Ethernet switches, routers, multiplexers, LAN extenders, I/O ports, RJ-45, CAT cables, OFC patch cords, patch panels, PDUs, rack fans, UPS.
• 2.Install & configure Windows/Linux OS on physical & virtual machines.
• 3.Provide network support for both.
• 4.Install, reload, patch, and maintain networking/security software on end systems.
• 5.Software provided by BARC.
• 6.Register users/end systems in centralized portal.
• 7.Update/correct user/system information.
• 8.Generate weekly/monthly/quarterly/half-yearly/annual reports as directed.
• 9.Perform network troubleshooting, fault finding using OTDR for OFC, CAT cable testing, crimping, punching.
• 10.Monitor network events, logs, traffic, viruses, Trojans, worms.
• 11.Report issues immediately and act in consultation with BARC officials.
• 12.Clean network equipment, racks, rack-fans twice yearly using vacuum cleaner/blower as instructed.
• 13.Maintain detailed documentation of I/O sockets, OFC terminations, physical connections for troubleshooting.
• Log and manage all complaints/issues in BARCs online ticketing portal.
• 14.Maintain offline records if portal is down and update later.
• 15.Implement new in-house/custom products and technologies across the network as per BARC instructions.Carry tools, cables, and equipment by hand to various locations.
• 16.Wait for escort where entry is restricted.
• 17.No remote desktop/session permitted.
• 18.All support strictly on-premise.
• 19.Follow 30-min staggered lunch from 12:301:30 PM ensuring 50% team availability.

Required Skills:

• 1.Diploma/B.E./B.Tech/B.Sc IT/CS or equivalent.
• 2.Minimum 2 years hands-on experience in computer networking, PC maintenance, Windows & Linux OS.
• 3.Good skills in software installation, network troubleshooting, LAN/WAN support.
• 4.Knowledge of OTDR, cable testing, VM environments preferred.
• 5.At least 30% of hired personnel must independently execute all technical jobs in scope.
• 6.Willing to work occasional weekends/holidays: max 48 man-hours/quarter.
• 7.Must clear BARC interview before deployment.
• 8.Replacement within 15 days if performance poor/misconduct.
