Job summary

ABB Marine & Ports seeks a Power Systems Engineer to act as a design authority for power system studies and related engineering tasks. You will work on small to mid-size projects, generate cost-effective solutions, and support testing, installation, and commissioning activities in Bangalore, India.

The role requires a master’s in Power System Analysis or Electrical/Electronics degree with 4–8 years of experience and hands-on use of ETAP/NEPLAN/SKM/DigSILENT/CYME tools, including at least two

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Power System Analysis or B.E./B.Tech in Electrical & Electronics.
  • 4–8 years of relevant experience.
  • Hands-on knowledge of power systems study software such as ETAP, NEPLAN, SKM Power, PS CAD, DigSILENT, or CYME.
  • Successfully executed at least two power system studies projects for networks of 300 buses and above.
  • Experience in MV/LV switchgear package and detail engineering is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate and apply standard engineering techniques to assignments.
  • Conduct KOM with client to agree scope and deviations.
  • Prepare man-hour estimates and technical/commercial offers.
  • Provide technical support for testing, installation and commissioning.
  • Perform power system studies including load flow, short circuit, dynamic motor starting, harmonics, transient/load shedding.
  • Conduct relay coordination, arc flash, insulation coordination, transformer inrush studies.
  • Perform Renewable Energy and Grid Integration studies.

This Position reports to:

Engineering Manager

Your Role And Responsibilities (Mandatory)

In this role, you will have the opportunity to act as a design authority for an engineering discipline with low to medium complexity. Each day, you will complete assignments on small projects or portions of larger projects in a cost-effective manner. You will also showcase your expertise by applying basic design thinking/design for excellence concepts in projects.

The work model for the role is: Li-Onsite

This role is contributing to the Process Automation business for Marine & Ports division based in Bangalore, India.

You will be mainly accountable for:
  • Evaluating, selecting, and applying standard techniques and procedures to perform engineering assignments.
  • Kick off meeting (KOM) with the client to mutually agree on scope of work and deviations.
  • Preparing the man hour estimate, technical and commercial offer for the project
  • Providing technical support for testing, installation, and commissioning activities.
  • Conducting Power system studies such as,
  • Load flow study
  • Short circuit study
  • Dynamic Motor starting study
  • Harmonic analysis
  • Transient & load shedding study
  • Relay coordination study with Unit protection
  • Arc flash study
  • Insulation co-ordination study
  • Transformer inrush current study
  • Renewable Energy and Grid Integration Studies
  • Preparation of study report. Harmonic measurement at site
Qualifications For The Role
  • Candidate should have a master’s degree in Power system Analysis/ Bachelor of Electrical and Electronics
  • 4 to 8 years of relevant experience
  • Hands on and working knowledge on any one of power systems study software such as ETAP/ NEPLAN/ SKM Power /PS CAD/ DigSILENT/ CYME tools etc.
  • Must have successfully executed at least two power system studies projects for big networks involving 300buses and above independently.
  • Project execution experience in MV, LV switchgear package and detail engineering would be an added advantage.
