Job summary

Fuller Technologies seeks a Technical Lead – Platform Engineering to drive architecture and technical direction for its global IIoT platform. Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field; a Master’s degree or relevant certifications preferred.
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in software engineering, cloud platform engineering, or related technology domains.
  • 3+ years of demonstrated technical leadership providing architectural direction for enterprise software or cloud platform solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the technical lead for the global IIoT platform, providing architectural guidance and direction across software teams.
  • Own and evolve end-to-end platform architecture spanning Edge devices, Azure cloud services, data pipelines, APIs, analytics, and customer-facing applications.
  • Design scalable, secure cloud-native solutions using Azure services including IoT Hub, data storage, and event-driven architectures.
  • Mentor engineers, review designs, and foster a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.
  • Drive platform reliability and cost optimization with monitoring, incident management, and capacity planning.
  • Champion secure SDLC practices and industrial cybersecurity standards, while aligning with product and security teams.

The Online Reliability Services Software Development team builds customer-facing digital products that improve equipment reliability and performance for cement producers worldwide. As Fuller Technologies expands its in-house software development capabilities, this growing team offers a unique opportunity to influence technology, engineering culture, and future product innovation.

About the Role

As Technical Lead, Platform Engineering, you will be the technical authority for our global Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) platform supporting Online Reliability Services (ORS). You will shape the architecture and technical direction across Edge connectivity, Microsoft Azure cloud services, data platforms, APIs, analytics, and customer-facing applications. In this role, you will lead the development of secure, scalable, and highly available digital solutions that enable predictive maintenance, equipment reliability, and data-driven services for customers worldwide. Working closely with Product Management, Scrum Masters, software engineers, Edge developers, and domain experts, you will translate business needs into robust technical solutions while driving engineering excellence, cybersecurity, continuous improvement, and platform innovation.

Your responsibilities
  • Serve as the technical lead for the global IIoT platform supporting Online Reliability Services (ORS), providing architectural guidance and technical direction across software development teams.
  • Own and evolve the end-to-end platform architecture spanning Edge devices and connectivity, Microsoft Azure cloud services, data pipelines, APIs, analytics, and customer-facing applications.
  • Design scalable, resilient, secure, and high-performing cloud-native solutions using Azure services, including Azure IoT Hub, cloud messaging, data storage, event-driven architectures, and distributed systems.
  • Guide technical design and development across Java, Node.js, C#, REST APIs, microservices, and real-time data processing technologies, ensuring seamless integration between industrial equipment, Edge devices, cloud services, and enterprise applications.
  • Establish engineering standards, development practices, and architecture principles that promote maintainability, scalability, software quality, and security.
  • Mentor and develop software engineers through technical coaching, code reviews, design reviews, and knowledge sharing, while fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.
  • Drive platform operational excellence and maintain availability of 99.9% or greater through effective monitoring, observability, logging, incident management, capacity planning, and performance optimization.
  • Lead disaster recovery, business continuity, backup validation, failover strategies, resilience testing, and root-cause analysis for critical production issues.
  • Optimize Microsoft Azure infrastructure and resource utilization to balance platform performance, scalability, reliability, and cloud operating costs.
  • Champion secure software development lifecycle (SDLC) practices and industrial cybersecurity principles, including IEC 62443, while partnering with infrastructure and cybersecurity teams to identify and mitigate technical risks.
  • Partner with Product Management, Scrum Masters, software and Edge developers, data engineers, automation engineers, and domain experts to translate business requirements into robust technical solutions.
  • Support technical estimation, solution reviews, project and release planning, and clearly communicate technical strategies, dependencies, risks, and recommendations to key stakeholders.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies, cloud services, and engineering practices, and contribute to the long-term technology roadmap for IIoT, digital services, and industrial automation.
  • Drive continuous improvements that enhance platform scalability, reliability, maintainability, security, engineering productivity, and overall customer value.
Qualifications
  • You bring Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field; a Master’s degree or relevant technical certifications are preferred.
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in software engineering, cloud platform engineering, industrial digital solutions, or related technology domains.
  • 3+ years of demonstrated technical leadership experience, providing architectural direction and guiding engineering teams in the delivery of enterprise software or cloud platform solutions.
  • Strong hands-on experience designing, implementing, and supporting production cloud platforms using Microsoft Azure.
  • Solid understanding of cloud-native architectures, distributed systems, APIs, microservices, data platforms, and modern software engineering practices.
  • Experience with Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT), Edge computing, industrial automation, manufacturing technologies, or connected equipment solutions is highly desirable.
  • Strong knowledge of engineering and technology principles, with the ability to translate complex technical requirements into practical, scalable solutions.
  • Demonstrated experience working within Agile development environments and structured Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) practices.
  • Strong systems thinking, critical thinking, and complex problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot technical and operational issues and drive effective solutions.
  • Ability to evaluate technology alternatives, understand system dependencies, and make sound architectural and technical decisions.
  • Proven ability to provide technical leadership, influence engineering teams, coordinate resources, and work effectively across multiple functions.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder-management skills, with the ability to explain complex technical topics clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Experience working effectively in global, cross-functional, and multicultural environments.
  • A collaborative, accountable, and continuous-improvement mindset with a strong focus on quality, security, reliability, and customer value.
  • Fluent English, both written and spoken; additional languages are an advantage.
