Job summary

Fuller Technologies in Chennai, India, seeks an Embedded Software Developer II to design, develop, and maintain embedded software for industrial edge devices connected to the ORS platform. You will implement data acquisition, edge processing, and secure communications with PLCs, sensors, and cloud analytics.

The role requires strong C/C++ and Python skills, hands-on Embedded Linux, and experience with OPC UA, Modbus, and MQTT.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering, IT, or a related technical discipline.
  • 4+ years of professional experience developing embedded software for Linux-based systems.
  • Strong programming skills in C/C++ and Python, with hands-on Embedded Linux experience.
  • Experience developing software for industrial edge devices, connected products, or IIoT applications.
  • Hands-on experience with industrial communication protocols such as OPC UA, Modbus, and MQTT.
  • Working knowledge of Docker, TCP/IP networking, Git, Azure DevOps, and Agile development practices.
  • Understanding of secure software development and IEC 62443 cybersecurity principles.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, systems-thinking, and complex problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to translate technical and user requirements into robust, practical engineering solutions.
  • Comfortable collaborating across disciplines, functions, and geographic locations in a global organization.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English; additional languages are a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, test, and maintain embedded software applications for industrial edge devices.
  • Develop reliable data acquisition, buffering, filtering, and edge-processing capabilities.
  • Integrate software with industrial equipment, sensors, PLCs, and control systems.
  • Implement and maintain industrial communication protocols including OPC UA, Modbus, and MQTT.
  • Develop software optimized for resource-constrained edge environments.
  • Support secure communication, device provisioning, software updates, and lifecycle management.
  • Develop and maintain containerized applications using Docker where applicable.
  • Participate in software architecture discussions and technical design reviews.
  • Conduct peer code reviews and contribute to software quality improvements.
  • Troubleshoot deployed software and support resolution of technical issues.
  • Apply secure software development practices and IEC 62443 cybersecurity principles.
  • Participate in Agile software development activities using Azure DevOps.
  • Collaborate with cloud, automation, cybersecurity, and reliability engineering teams.

The Online Reliability Services Software Development team builds customer-facing digital products that improve equipment reliability and performance for cement producers worldwide. About the Role

The Embedded Software Developer II designs, develops, and maintains secure, reliable embedded software solutions supporting the company's Online Reliability Services (ORS) platform. This role develops software for industrial edge devices and gateways that collect, process, and securely transmit operational data from cement plant equipment to cloud-based analytics platforms. As an experienced contributor within the Automation & Digitalization R&D organization, this role independently delivers software features, supports technical solutions, and collaborates with cross-functional teams to improve equipment reliability, uptime, and digital service capabilities.

Your responsibilities
  • Design, develop, test, and maintain embedded software applications for industrial edge devices.
