Job summary

Birlasoft is seeking a Technical Lead-Cloud & Infra Engg to drive backup and storage architecture for enterprise environments. The role involves leading recovery strategies, DR testing, and complex troubleshooting to ensure high availability. You will coordinate with vendors and ensure adherence to policies and SLAs.

The candidate will manage SAN/NAS storage, RAID/SCSI concepts, and cloud integration while guiding a team to deliver reliable, scalable backup solutions in a fast-paced setting.

Qualifications

• Primary knowledge of backup tools is mandatory, with hands-on experience in VEEAM and Commvault architecture.
• Secondary knowledge of storage hardware and SAN switches is required for scalable solutions.
• Strong understanding of RAID/SCSI/SAN/NAS and iSCSI is a plus.
• Ability to design, tune, and troubleshoot backup environments and DR procedures.
• Experience with multiple backup types including cloud, file/server, and database backups.
• Vendor management and adherence to backup policies and SLAs.

Responsibilities

• Lead backup architecture and storage design for cloud and on‑prem environments.
• Troubleshoot complex backup failures and implement preventative measures.
• Manage disaster recovery drills and verify recoverability of systems.
• Monitor backups, perform routine tuning, and handle ad hoc requests.
• Maintain storage equipment, including servers, disks, and tape storage devices.
• Ensure compliance with policies, standards, and SLAs across teams.
• Coordinate with vendors for upgrades, maintenance, and incident resolution.
• Provide tier-3 operational support for storage environments.

Description:

Area(s) of responsibility

• Primary knowledge of the Backup tools is mandatory (e.g. VEEAM, Commvault, PPDM, Cloud backup).
• Secondary knowledge of the Storage is mandatory (e.g. NetApp, Dell Power etc.)
• Good understanding of storage architecture/zoning/capacity management/migration/DR.
• Expert in Veeam, Commvault backup architecture/flow including Storage Policy/Library/Media Agent/Upgrade/Failure-Troubleshooting etc.
• Knowledge on various backup types such are Cloud backup, File/Server Backup, Exchange archival, BareMetal Backup, Database Backup, Virtual Host Backup, and system restores.
• Resolution of backup/recovery service disruptions and implementation of preventative measures.
• Identify & perform backup environment system tuning
• Schedule management, Adhoc backup request execution, monitor all backups timely and able troubleshooting issue
• Perform routine disaster recovery scenarios
• Troubleshoot Replication errors
• Maintain backup policies and standards
• Maintain all equipment for backup environment to include servers, disk, and tape storage devices
• Performs continuous research and audits to ensure continuous and high levels of performance, security and availability of network and operating systems and peripheral devices.
• Vendor management
• Provide all tier operational support of storage environments, maintaining ownership and a deep technical knowledge
• Able to troubleshoot complex storage problems and provide cost effective, operationally supportable solutions that meet complex customer requirements and SLAs.
• Good understanding of storage and SAN switches

Must have detailed knowledge of RAID, SCSI, SAN, and NAS. Experience with iSCSI is a plus
