Job summary

Anunta in Mahape, Navi Mumbai, is hiring a Backup Engineer with 3–6 years of hands-on Veritas NetBackup experience to monitor, maintain, and troubleshoot enterprise backup and storage environments in a 24x7 production setting.

You will monitor operations, execute restores, manage policies, support DR activities, and coordinate with cross-functional teams. Immediate joiners are preferred.

Qualifications

• 3–6 years of experience in Backup/Storage or IT Infrastructure support.
• Hands-on experience with Veritas NetBackup.
• Good understanding of backup and recovery concepts.
• Working knowledge of Windows and Linux operating systems.
• Knowledge of SAN/NAS storage technologies.
• Exposure to VMware/Hyper‑V environments.
• Experience with monitoring and ITSM tools such as ServiceNow.
• Good troubleshooting, communication, and documentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Monitor daily backups with NetBackup.
• Troubleshoot backup failures and related alerts.
• Perform restores at file, VM, and application levels.
• Manage backup policies, schedules, retention, and storage usage.
• Support disk-based and tape-based backups (VTL/LTO).
• Handle incidents and service requests within SLAs.
• Conduct root-cause analysis for recurring issues.
• Coordinate with Storage, OS, Database, Network, and Application teams.
• Support upgrades, patches, migrations, and DR activities.
• Maintain SOPs, documentation, and knowledge articles.
• Support ITIL-based Incident, Change, and Problem Management processes.
• Mentor juniors and support operational handovers.

We are looking for a Backup Engineer with hands‑on experience in Veritas NetBackup to support, maintain, and troubleshoot enterprise backup and storage environments.

The role includes backup monitoring, incident management, restore operations, troubleshooting, backup configuration, and coordination with infrastructure teams in a 24x7 production environment.

Immediate joiners are preferred.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor and manage daily backup operations using Veritas NetBackup.
• Troubleshoot backup failures, alerts, media, agent, storage, and network‑related issues.
• Execute file‑level, VM‑level, and application‑level restore requests.
• Manage backup policies, schedules, retention, and storage utilization.
• Support disk‑based and tape‑based backup environments, including VTL/LTO.
• Handle incidents and service requests within defined SLAs.
• Perform RCA for recurring and critical backup issues.
• Coordinate with Storage, OS, Database, Network, and Application teams.
• Support backup upgrades, patching, migrations, and DR activities.
• Maintain SOPs, operational documentation, and knowledge articles.
• Support ITIL‑based Incident, Change, and Problem Management processes.
• Provide guidance to junior team members and support operational handovers.

Required Skills & Experience

• 3–6 years of experience in Backup/Storage or IT Infrastructure support.
• Hands‑on experience with Veritas NetBackup.
• Good understanding of backup and recovery concepts.
• Working knowledge of Windows and Linux operating systems.
• Knowledge of SAN/NAS storage technologies.
• Exposure to VMware/Hyper‑V environments.
• Experience with monitoring and ITSM/ticketing tools such as ServiceNow.
• Good troubleshooting, communication, and documentation skills.

Good to Have

• Experience with tape libraries, VTL, and deduplication.
• Exposure to AWS/Azure backup environments.
• Basic Shell/PowerShell scripting knowledge.
• Knowledge of Oracle, SQL, SAP, or application backups.
• ITIL Foundation certification.
