Job summary

Jobtailor seeks a Storage Backup Engineer in India to lead backup and recovery operations across VEEAM and Commvault environments. You will tune backup environments, manage schedules, and execute ad hoc requests while ensuring DR readiness and policy compliance.

The role requires strong knowledge of storage architectures, NetApp and Dell Power technologies, and experience with replication troubleshooting. A deep focus on performance, security, and vendor coordination is essential.

Qualifications

• Primary knowledge of backup tools must include VEEAM and Commvault; cloud backup is a plus.
• Secondary knowledge of storage technologies including NetApp and Dell Power required.
• Strong understanding of storage architecture, zoning, capacity management, migration, and DR.
• Expertise in VEEAM and Commvault backup architecture and flows, including Storage Policy, Library, Media Agent, upgrades and troubleshooting.
• Knowledge of cloud backup, file/server backup, Exchange archival, BareMetal, database, VMs, and system restores.

• Resolve backup and recovery service disruptions and implement preventative measures
• Identify and perform backup environment system tuning
• Manage schedules and execute ad hoc backup requests
• Monitor backups and troubleshoot issues in a timely manner
• Perform routine disaster recovery scenarios
• Maintain backup policies and standards
• Maintain backup-environment equipment, including servers, disk, and tape storage devices
• Conduct continuous research and audits to maintain high performance, security, and availability of network and operating systems and peripheral devices
• Manage vendors
• Provide tier-level operational support for storage environments
• Own storage-environment support and maintain deep technical knowledge
• Troubleshoot complex storage problems and provide cost-effective, operationally supportable solutions meeting customer requirements and SLAs

Requirements

• Primary knowledge of backup tools is mandatory, including VEEAM, Commvault, PPDM, and cloud backup
• Secondary knowledge of storage technologies is mandatory, including NetApp and Dell Power
• Good understanding of storage architecture, zoning, capacity management, migration, and disaster recovery
• Expertise in Veeam and Commvault backup architecture and flows, including Storage Policy, Library, Media Agent, upgrades, failure troubleshooting, and related areas
• Knowledge of cloud backup, file/server backup, Exchange archival, BareMetal backup, database backup, virtual host backup, and system restores
• Experience troubleshooting replication errors
• Good understanding of storage and SAN switches
• Detailed knowledge of RAID, SCSI, SAN, and NAS
• Experience with iSCSI is a plus
