Job summary

Spyne builds AI software for US car dealerships and is seeking a Technical Lead (SDE III) to own critical product areas and guide engineering excellence. This on-site role in Gurugram will involve mentorship, architecture ownership, and cross-functional collaboration with Product, Design, AI, and Business teams.

You will shape how modern software is built using AI, partner with stakeholders, and raise the engineering bar across the organization as part of a fast-growing India-based team.

Spyne builds AI software for US car dealerships. Two products are on the market. Studio AI turns phone-shot vehicle images into retail-ready merchandising in minutes. Vini AI is a conversational agent suite that handles dealership sales, service, recall and acquisition interaction: inbound calls, web leads, follow-up, scheduling.

About the Role

We're looking for a Technical Lead (SDE III) who enjoys building products, solving difficult engineering problems, and leading through technical excellence.

This is a hands-on leadership role where you'll own critical product areas, influence architecture, mentor engineers, and help shape how modern software is built using AI.

You'll work closely with Product, Design, AI, and Business teams to build systems that serve customers globally while helping raise the engineering bar across the organization.

What You'll Own

• Design and build scalable backend services and customer-facing products.


• Own architecture and technical direction for key product initiatives.


• Lead a team of engineers through design discussions, code reviews, execution planning, and delivery.


• Mentor engineers and help them grow technically.


• Build reliable, maintainable, and high-performance systems that scale.


• Partner with Product to convert customer problems into elegant technical solutions.


• Drive engineering best practices around system design, code quality, testing, observability, and operational excellence.


• Champion AI-native engineering by leveraging modern AI tools to improve developer productivity, software quality, and delivery speed.


• Foster a culture of ownership, innovation, and continuous improvement.

What We're Looking For

• 5-7 years of experience building production-grade software.


• Strong understanding of distributed systems, scalable architecture, concurrency, databases, and API design.


• Excellent grasp of data structures, algorithms, and software design principles.


• Ability to make thoughtful architectural decisions balancing scale, reliability, speed, and maintainability.

Hands-on Development

• Strong experience building backend services using Node.js.


• Good understanding of modern frontend frameworks such as React.


• Experience with databases including MongoDB and MySQL.


• Familiarity with technologies like Redis, Kafka/Pub-Sub, queues, caching, background jobs, and event-driven systems.


• Experience building cloud-native applications on AWS, GCP, or Azure.

AI-First Mindset

• We're not looking for someone who has simply "used ChatGPT."\


• We're looking for engineers who understand how AI is changing software development.


• You should have experience using AI-assisted development workflows, understand modern LLM capabilities, and actively explore ways AI can improve engineering productivity, software quality, and product experiences.


• Bonus if you've built products powered by LLMs, AI agents, retrieval systems, or multimodal AI.

Technical Leadership

• Experience mentoring engineers and leading technical initiatives.


• Comfortable owning projects from idea to production.


• Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate across Engineering, Product, Design, and Business teams.


• Ability to simplify complex technical problems and make pragmatic engineering decisions.
