Job summary

SRM Technologies in Chennai seeks an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to design subsystems and components for plastics, sheet metal, and assemblies. Proficiency in Catia/SolidWorks and PLM tools is required to develop concepts and CAD models as per design intent.

You will interact with cross-functional teams, validate designs through GD&T, DFMEA, and tolerance analysis, and contribute to NPI/NPD from ideation to industrialization.

Qualifications

• Diploma or BE/BTech in Mechanical Engineering with 8–10 years of relevant experience.
• Experience in design and development of subsystems and components.
• Proficient in Catia/SolidWorks and PLM tools for CAD modeling.
• Knowledge of GD&T, FMEA, DFM/ DFA and NP I/NPD processes.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop system/subsystem concepts and detailed drawings.
• Create and review conceptual designs in SolidWorks/Catia and manage ECN/ECO in PLM.
• Validate designs with GD&T, tolerance analyses, and DFMEA; liaise with cross-functional teams.

Job description

Mechanical Engineering is responsible for developing and designing sub system/components. To design and develop Plastics, Sheet metal parts, assemblies and detail drawings, and proficient in Catia/Solid works and PLM tools to develop concepts and cad models as per design intent. Should be able to interact with design independently and cross functional team for design clarifications and change implementation. Responsible for planning and executing design activities as per client timelines.

Requirements

Mandatory Skills and Functional Capabilities:

• Experience in design & development of system/subsystem and creation of conceptual designs in Solid works/Catia.
• Proficient in CAD software (Creating 3D models, Sheet Metal, 2D drawing, and Assembly).
• Experience in Value engineering projects.
• Hands on experience in sheet metal parts and plastic design and manufacturing.
• Experience in design & development of system/subsystem and electro mechanical products .
• Strong knowledge in manufacturability considerations for Plastic, Sheet metal, Casting and structural Components
• Experience in conducting verification and experimental testing at components / subsystem level.
• Create DFMEA and identify relevant product risks.
• Identifying the suitable material, apply DFM/DFA concepts in design and Familiar with latest engineering design and methods, tools, and processes.
• Experience with standard NPI / NPD process : Ideation to Industrialization
• Hands on experience in P DM / PLM for managing lifecycle of the components, managing ECO / ECR, creating EBOM.
• Create & review engineering drawings, understand GD&T principles, tolerance stack-up analysis, material selection & selection of manufacturing processes

Qualifications/Requirements

• Diploma, BE / B Tech in Mechanical Engineering with 8 – 10 years of relevant work experience
• Good understanding and experience in 3D printing, FMEA, DFM, GD&T, Tolerance analysis, thermals, materials, plastics and infection molding.
• Demonstrated proficiency in design conceptualization, detail designing, structural analysis, verification and validation of design through engineering calculations and prototype testing.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.

Desired Characteristics

• Experience inCatia, Windchill, NPI, Plastic and sheet metal parts design, complex assemblies and BOM.
• Concept creation and Proto build.
• Japanese language proficiency.(Open for one position and required at least mid range for one position)
