Job summary

L&T Technology Services (LTTS) is seeking a design engineer with strong experience in mechanical design, plastics parts, casting and sheet metal design. You will create and review concepts, develop 3D models and drawings, and work with PLM tools to manage BOMs.

The role emphasizes DFM/DFX and tolerance studies in a medical domain context. Candidate should be able to work independently, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and communicate project progress to clients.

Qualifications

• BE/BTech in Mechanical, Polymer/Plastics with relevant experience in design & development (preferably in Medical domain).
• Experience in NPD, Product Design - Plastic part design, Casting part design and Sheet metal part design.
• Hands-on CAD experience creating 3D models and 2D manufacturing drawings per ASME Y14.5.
• Creating e-BOM and hands-on PLM experience (Windchill, Vault).
• Experience in DFM/DFX, DFMEA and understanding of manufacturing processes for Plastics, Castings, Machining and Sheet Metal.

Responsibilities

• Create and review concepts, modify/improve existing design, and involve in Sustenance Engineering (CN/CR/CO).
• Verify and validate design concepts and support prototype processes and development.
• Present ideas to clients and cross-functional stakeholders with clear documentation.

JOB DESCRIPTION

• BE/BTech in Mechanical, Polymer/Plastics with relevant experience in design & development (preferably in Medical domain).
• Experience in NPD, Product Design - Plastic part design, Casting part design and Sheet metal part design.
• Should be able to create and review concepts, modify/improve existing design, and involve in Sustenance Engineering(CN/CR/CO), etc.
• Hands-on experience in CAD - SolidWorks / Creo (Creating 3D models and 2D manufacturing drawings as per ASME Y14.5).
• Creating e-BOM, and hands-on experience in PLM - Windchill, Vault, etc.
• Experience in design and review for DFM/DFA/DFS/DFX, DFMEA.
• Clear understanding of Manufacturing processes for Plastics, Castings, Machining and Sheet Metal part design.
• Plastic Material selection(Casting and sheet metal parts), Molding Tolerances, Define Finish Texture as per Mold tec No.
• Experience in the latest engineering designs and methods, tools, and processes.
• Should have good knowledge of Mechanisms, Design, and Analytical calculations.
• Knowledge of ISO-GPS (Geometrical Product Specification) GD&T with exposure to Tolerance-stack studies.
• Knowledge of medical device standards FDA, ISO 13485, IEC60601, ISO 14971, FDA, is preferred.
• Knowledge and exposure to RoHS/REACH are added advantages.
• Experience and knowledge in Prototype processes and development.
• Verification and Validation testing experience is preferred.
• Disciplined structured and self-organized team player, capable of working independently.
• Ability to present ideas to different client and cross functional stake holders.
• Excellent communication skills & project management skills.
• Quality mindset in design and documentation.
