Job summary

Linde Engineering in Vadodara is seeking a Technical Subject Matter Expert in fire protection engineering to solve complex problems and mentor others. You will contribute to project execution, ensuring adherence to schedules, budgets, and safety standards across small to large projects.

Applicants should bring 10+ years of Chemical Engineering experience (or 15+ years with a Diploma) and strong knowledge of fire protection concepts, noise control, and relevant codes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Chemical Engineering with 10+ years of experience; site exposure preferred.
• Diploma in Chemical Engineering with 15+ years of experience.
• Site experience will be an added advantage.

Responsibilities

• Work with fire protection engineers to ensure tasks are completed on time, within budget and quality.
• Demonstrate in-depth knowledge of noise control and fire protection activities.
• Ensure compliance with NFPA, API, OISD and related codes and standards.
• Conduct noise control engineering tasks including noise mapping and surveys.
• Handle fire water demand calculations and FW hydraulic calculations.
• Review 3D models and prepare fire protection equipment specifications.
• Provide technical support to projects and proposals.
• Coordinate with other disciplines, vendors, and clients as needed.
• Develop new concepts and procedures for standardization across entities.
• Lead budget and schedule discussions, identify risks and mitigations.

Job description

Roles at this level are Technical subject matter experts. They work individually in solving complex technical issues and act as guide / mentors to others in their field of expertise.

At this role - their technical expertise is critical in maintaining the competitiveness of the company.

Most of the times, there are few replacements in the organisation.

Key Responsibility

Technical Knowledge:

• Worked in a group of fire protection engineers to ensure that all fire protection engineering tasks are performed within scheduled time, budget and quality for small, medium and large size projects
• Good in-depth knowledge on following Noise Control and Fire Protection Engineering activities:
• Well conversant with Codes and Standards (NFPA, API, OISD, etc.)
• Noise control engineering, Noise concept, Acoustic & Flow Induced Vibration, Noise Mapping, Vendor Noise Datasheets, Noise Hood / Enclosure design considerations, Noise specifications, Noise survey
• Fire water demand calculation, Fire water layout / P&IDs, FW Hydraulic calculations, 3D model review for fire water system (incl. deluge systems), Preparation of Fire-fighting Equipment specifications / layout, Vendor Document Review
• Building Protection / Safety related activities
• Area Classification list and layouts
• Preparation of fire hazardous area plan (Passive fire protection list and extent) and fire-fighting equipment plot plan
• Design fire and gas detection system, allocation and layout preparation
• Technical support to multiple projects / proposals
• Well conversant with software tools CadnaA, Soundplan, Pipenet, etc.

Subject matter expertise

• Develop new concepts and execution plans to provide technologically advanced and cost effective solutions specific to the subject
• Develop new procedures, standards, work instructions to be used across entities

Proposal & Project Execution

• Analyse contract and examine relevant scope and interfaces
• Early identification of risks and implement mitigations
• Participate in budget and execution schedule review
• Estimate cost and concept for proposals
• Deliver quality deliverable and control budget and schedule
• Develop cost effective, quality and HSE related concepts and solutions
• Review critical calculations, specifications, concepts and approve project deliverables

Interface Management & Alignment

• Co-ordinate with other EN disciplines and functions, vendors, sub-contractors, clients, PMC and entities

Development & Continuous Improvement

• Contribute towards organizational quality, training and improvement initiatives and implementation in the projects, proposals
• Participate as auditee during internal and external process and technical audits and accountable for closure of audit, implementation of preventive and corrective actions
• Conduct technical meetings with the department for know-how backflow and lessons learnt

Additional Tasks

• Support to the DH, entities with review, audit for all the projects and to build the overall competency on the particular subject

Subject Matter Expert recognised within the company and across the entities.

Must have executed many complex projects as EQR for the particular subject and must have seen complete life cycle
