Job summary

Linde Engineering in Vadodara seeks a senior process safety engineer to act as a subject matter expert, guiding complex safety tasks and mentoring peers across projects.

The role requires deep expertise in HAZID/HAZOP, QRA, RAM and FMEA, with proficiency in DNV PHAST, Safeti, PHA Works, CadnaA and related tools; site experience is a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Chemical Engineering with 20+ years or Diploma in Chemical Engineering with 25+ years of experience.
• Site experience will be an added advantage.
• Experience in Safety studies such as HAZID, HAZOP, QRA, FMEA, RAM, HSE related tasks.

Responsibilities

• Work with Process and Safety engineers to ensure timely, budgeted safety tasks for medium/large projects.
• Chair and participate in HAZID, HAZOP, QRA, SIL, RAM studies.
• Develop procedures and standards for subject matter expertise implementation.
• Review calculations, designs and ensure technical integrity across projects.

Role Definition

Roles at this level are Technical subject matter experts. They work individually in solving complex technical issues and act as guide / mentors to others in their field of expertise.

At this role - their technical expertise is critical in maintaining the competitiveness of the entity and the organisation.

Most of the times, there are few replacements in the organisation and the market for such experts.

Key Responsibility

Technical Knowledge

• Work in a group of Process and Safety engineers to ensure that all process safety engineering tasks are performed within scheduled time, budget and quality for medium and large size projects
• Knowledge of National and International Codes and Standards relevant to Process & Environmental safety applicable to design, construction and operation of process plant.
• Experience of chairing and participation in various studies viz. HAZID, ENVID, HAZOP, SIL, LOPA, Bow-tie analysis, SIMOPS, PSSR, PHSER, etc.
• Experience of handling and performing various Safety studies such as Consequence Modelling studies, Quantitative Risk Assessment (QRA), Fire & Gas Dispersion and Explosion Hazard analysis, Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA), Reliability Availability Maintainability (RAM), HAZOP, SIL, HAZID, Safety Critical Elements and Performance Standards, Technical Integrity Verification, Human Factors Engineering, F&G detector mapping, Noise Engineering etc.
• Performed Dispersion analysis, explosion analysis, Building Risk Assessment, Facility Siting study, etc.
• Managing HSE Action Tracking and Close out register
• Good in-depth knowledge on Process and Safety engineering activities.
• Should possess Project execution experience in one or more of product lines: Hydrogen, Ethylene Cracker, Acid Gas Removal, LNG train, Polypropylene, Polyethylene, SRU, Ammonia
• Technical and administrative support to multiple projects / proposals.
• Well conversant with handling of softwares "DNV PHAST, DNV Safeti, PHA Works, PHA Pro, CadnaA, ? Pipenet, Soundplan , Flarenet "

Subject matter expertise

• Develop new concepts and execution plans to provide technologically advanced and cost effective solutions specific to the subject
• Develop new procedures, standards, work instructions to be used across entities

Proposal & Project Execution

• Analyse contract and examine relevant scope and interfaces
• Early identification of risks and implement mitigations
• Participate in budget and execution schedule review
• Estimate cost and concept for proposals
• Deliver quality deliverable and control budget and schedule
• Develop cost effective, quality and HSE related concepts and solutions
• Review critical calculations, specifications, concepts and approve project deliverables

Interface Management & Alignment

• Co-ordinate with other EN disciplines and functions, vendors, sub-contractors, clients, PMC and entities

Development & Continuous Improvement

• Contribute towards organizational quality, training and improvement initiatives and implementation in the projects, proposals
• Participate as auditee during internal and external process and technical audits and accountable for closure of audit, implementation of preventive and corrective actions
• Conduct technical meetings with the department for know-how backflow and lessons learnt

Additional Tasks

• Support to the DH, entities with review, audit for all the projects and to build the overall competency on the particular subject

Additional Responsibility

Subject Matter Expert recognised within the company and across the entities and / or in industry

Must have executed many complex projects as EQR for the particular subject and must have seen complete life cycle
