Job summary

Relevance Lab is seeking an experienced Tech Lead Backend to drive the backend of our SaaS platform. You will lead core microservices, own architecture, and deliver scalable, high-performance services in a fast-paced, agile environment.

The role requires hands-on coding, collaboration with product and engineering teams, and mentoring of backend engineers to ensure robust, data-driven solutions using TypeScript, Node.js, NestJS, Python, and AWS.

Qualifications

• 8–12 years of relevant industry experience with at least 6 years in backend development.
• Strong hands-on coding and problem-solving skills.
• Proven experience building and managing microservices-based backend applications.
• Strong understanding of cloud-based application development, preferably on AWS.
• Experience with databases, queues, streams, and data-intensive applications.
• Ability to take ownership of backend architecture and technical delivery.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
• Comfortable working in an Agile and fast-paced product development environment.

Responsibilities

• Act as a key technical contributor to the core engineering team, focusing on the backend development and enhancement of the SaaS platform.
• Take end-to-end ownership of core microservices and backend codebases, including architecture, development, testing, and deployment.
• Design and develop scalable, reliable, maintainable, and high-performance backend services.
• Lead the backend development of features from technical design through implementation and deployment.
• Work closely with Product Managers to understand requirements and translate them into effective technical solutions.
• Drive technical decisions related to backend architecture, microservices, APIs, data management, and integrations.
• Develop robust backend tools and applications using clean, efficient, and maintainable code.
• Work with PostgreSQL, DynamoDB, and other data technologies to support data-intensive applications.
• Design and implement asynchronous and event-driven solutions using Redis Streams, SQS, RabbitMQ, or Kafka.
• Leverage AWS cloud services to build, deploy, and support scalable backend applications.
• Participate in code reviews and promote engineering best practices, coding standards, and quality.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration and optimal functionality of backend features.
• Participate actively in an Agile, delivery-focused development environment and ensure timely delivery of technical solutions.
• Mentor and provide technical guidance to backend engineers and contribute to the overall technical growth of the team.

Job Overview

We are looking for an experienced Tech Lead Backend to join our core engineering team and play a key role in building, enhancing, and scaling our SaaS technology platform.

The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on expertise in TypeScript, Node.js, NestJS, and Python, combined with proven experience in microservices, AWS, databases, and messaging/streaming technologies. The candidate will take end-to-end ownership of backend services and contribute to architecture, development, deployment, and technical delivery.

Experience

• 812 years of overall industry experience
• Minimum 6 years of hands-on backend development experience
• Strong experience designing and developing scalable backend applications and services.

Required Technical Skills

Mandatory:

• Strong programming experience in TypeScript
• Hands-on experience with Node.js and NestJS
• Strong experience with Python
• Hands-on experience with Microservices architecture
• Good experience with AWS cloud services

Preferred Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate should be a hands-on Backend Tech Lead who can contribute to architecture and design while remaining actively involved in coding and development. Strong expertise in TypeScript, Node.js, NestJS, Python, AWS, and microservices is essential. Experience with telephony/voice technologies such as SIP and WebRTC will be an added advantage.
