Job summary

Relevance Lab is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to strengthen our core engineering team and drive the development of our SaaS platform. You will own backend microservices end-to-end, from architecture to deployment, using TypeScript, Node.js, NestJS and Python.

You will work with PostgreSQL, DynamoDB and messaging systems (Redis Streams, SQS, RabbitMQ, Kafka) on AWS to deliver scalable, data-intensive services.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS, Engineering, or equivalent.
• Strong programming and problem-solving skills.
• Proven experience with Node.js/TypeScript and NestJS.
• Good hands-on experience with Python.
• Understanding of microservices and distributed systems.
• Experience with AWS cloud.

Responsibilities

Job Overview

We are looking for a talented and experienced Senior Backend Engineer to join our core engineering team and contribute to the development and enhancement of our SaaS technology platform.

The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience in TypeScript, Node.js, NestJS, and Python, along with expertise in microservices, AWS, databases, and messaging/streaming technologies. The role involves end-to-end ownership of backend services, from architecture and development through deployment.

Experience

• 810 years of overall software development experience
• Minimum 4 years of hands-on backend development experience
• Strong experience in building scalable, reliable, and data-intensive backend applications.

• Work as a key contributor to the core engineering team, focusing on backend development and enhancement of the SaaS technology platform.
• Take end-to-end ownership of backend microservices, including architecture, development, testing, and deployment.
• Design and develop scalable, robust, and high-performance backend services using TypeScript, Node.js, NestJS, and Python.
• Lead backend development for new features and enhancements in collaboration with Product Managers and other stakeholders.
• Design and implement APIs and backend components that integrate effectively with other platform services.
• Work with databases such as PostgreSQL and DynamoDB to build efficient and scalable data solutions.
• Develop and manage asynchronous processing using Redis Streams, SQS, RabbitMQ, or Kafka.
• Deploy and support backend applications using AWS cloud services.
• Write clean, maintainable, efficient, and well-tested code.
• Participate in code reviews, technical discussions, architecture decisions, and engineering best practices.
• Work effectively within an Agile and delivery-focused development environment to meet project goals and timelines.
• Collaborate closely with Product, Engineering, and other cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality features.

Preferred Candidate Profile:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or an equivalent field.
• Strong programming and problem-solving skills.
• Proven experience developing backend applications using Node.js/TypeScript and NestJS.
• Good hands-on experience with Python.
• Strong understanding of microservices architecture and distributed systems.
• Experience working with cloud-based applications, preferably AWS.
• Strong understanding of databases, queues, streams, and data-driven application development.
• Ability to independently own backend services and contribute to technical and architectural decisions.
