Job summary

Delta6Labs FinTech Pvt Ltd is seeking an experienced Backend Lead (Node.js) to own and scale backend systems. You will steer the backend team, drive technical decisions, and collaborate with product, frontend, QA, and DevOps to deliver reliable APIs and services.

You will work with PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Redis, and cloud platforms, implementing secure authentication, high-availability architectures, and real-time features via event-driven design.

Qualifications

• 7+ years in backend development with strong Node.js depth.
• Hands-on API design, microservices, and inter-service communication.
• Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases and data modeling.
• Security-focused development incl. JWT/OAuth, OWASP guidelines.
• Experience with unit/integration tests (Jest, Mocha).

Responsibilities

• Design and maintain server-side apps in Node.js with focus on quality and scalability.

Job description

We’re looking for an experienced Backend Lead (Node.js) to join the team and take ownership of our backend systems, designing, building, and keeping them scalable, secure, and genuinely high-performance.

The desired candidate will lead the backend team day to day, drive the technical decisions that shape how things get built, and work closely with product, frontend, QA, and DevOps to ship APIs and services people can actually rely on. There’s solid exposure here too, cloud infrastructure, distributed systems, and the kind of modern development practices that keep a team sharp.

Technical Responsibilities

• Designing and maintaining server-side applications using Node.js, with an emphasis on doing it well, not just doing it fast.
• Building scalable, low-latency RESTful APIs
• Architecting for high availability, performance, and reliability at scale
• Working across PostgreSQL, MongoDB, and Redis
• Implementing authentication, authorization, and data security the right way
• Tuning backend services for performance and cost efficiency
• Integrating third-party services like messaging, email, and payment gateways
• Building real-time features through WebSockets and event-driven architecture
• Working with message queues and streaming systems such as RabbitMQ, Kafka, AWS SQS/SNS, or Azure Service Bus
• Writing unit, integration, and end-to-end tests, and actually maintaining them
• Sitting in on code reviews and technical discussions, keeping documentation honest
• Working with CI/CD pipelines and Docker-based environments
• Partnering with DevOps on cloud deployments and Kubernetes-based systems

Leadership & Team Responsibilities

• Leading, mentoring, and managing the backend team
• Giving technical direction and hands-on support where it’s needed
• Running code reviews that actually push quality and consistency
• Working with product and business stakeholders to nail down technical requirements and timelines
• Owning the backend architecture and the decisions that come with it
• Helping the team grow through mentoring, knowledge sharing, and honest feedback

Qualifications & Skills

• 7+ years in backend development, with strong recent depth in Node.js specifically
• Solid grasp of Node.js core concepts, async programming, and event-driven architecture
• Hands-on with Node.js frameworks like Express.js or similar
• Real experience in API design, microservices, and inter-service communication
• Comfortable across SQL and NoSQL databases and data modeling
• Worked with JWT, OAuth, or similar authentication mechanisms
• Strong on security, OWASP guidelines included, encryption at rest and in transit too
• Experience profiling and optimizing backend services and database queries
• Testing experience with Jest or Mocha/Chai
• Decent exposure to AWS or Azure
• Background working with real-time, event-driven systems
• Genuine leadership ability has mentored or managed engineers before
• Strong problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills

Education

Bachelor’s or Master’s in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent practical experience.

Preferred Experience

• FinTech, banking, or payments background, ideally at scale or in regulated environments
• Exposure to blockchain or crypto platforms
• Experience in high-traffic, distributed systems
