About the Health Insurance Industry – The current market sees more than 15 non‑life players in the private space and 5 exclusive private players in the health insurance space trying to capture a sizable market share, while the nationalised service provider remains a strong competitor. In addition, the business dynamics are such that the overall market on an annual basis is to the tune of roughly 10,000 Crs, of which close to 85% renews with the existing service provider. This narrows the opportunity for fresh business to roughly 1,500 Crs. With SMEs and start‑ups driving the Indian economy, the opportunity to cater to these segments is immense and growing year on year.
Opportunities – With the advent of medical advancements, lifestyle changes, and socio‑economic shifts, clients face challenges to cater to the needs of a diverse workforce. Increasingly Indian clients consider group benefits as a lever to manage employee expectations, talent acquisition and retention. It becomes important to understand their psyche and provide tailored solutions that help them meet objectives and bring profitable revenue for the company.
