Job summary

Burckhardt Compression AG is seeking a senior mechanical engineer to lead sizing activities for reciprocating compressors. You will conduct thermodynamic analyses, support with calculations and collaborate with HQ for workload planning and project delivery.

The role requires a deep understanding of compressor technology, ISO/OSHAS standards, and global collaboration to continuously improve sizing tools and processes.

Qualifications

• BE/ME in Mechanical Engineering (10+ years of experience).
• Familiar with ISO, OSHAS & Greenco standards.
• Familiar with API 618, ASME, ASTM, DIN, etc.
• Fundamental knowledge of compressors, thermodynamics and sizing.

Responsibilities

• Support sizing calculations and simulations for compressors to meet customer specs.
• Review sizing outputs for accuracy (4-eye check) and ensure on-time delivery.
• Collaborate with Headquarter for workload planning, invoicing and performance analysis.
• Develop sizing competency within the team and onboard new resources.
• Coordinate with internal and global stakeholders to improve processes.

Job description

• Ensure OTD & accuracy of sizing output of team achieved as per target
• Provide monthly MIS reports, analyse KPIs & review action points for continuous improvement
• Alignment with Headquarter for sizing Workbench workload planning, invoicing and performance analysis.
• Capacity planning of team based on sales forecasts & ensure full recovery of dept cost
• Setting performance & development goals, monitoring, control & yearly assessment of team
• Collaboration with Headquarter for development & sustenance of knowhow and regular review of workbench enquiries / projects
• Provide feedback to Headquarter to improve performance of sizing tools
• Imbibe culture of demonstrating high standards of BC values & Behaviours
• Collaboration with internal & global stakeholders for smooth business process flow & continuous improvement.
• Present and share learnings within team regularly to enhance the competency of team; Update & share lessons learnt in Teams channel.
• Develop sizing competency in team for superior performance
• Ensure knowhow development & sustenance within team
• Ensure implementation of new developments (calculate risk) / innovative ideas
• Contribute to various improvement projects launched at company level
• Recruitment & Training of new resources; ensure smooth onboarding of new employee
• Ensure engagement of team to reduce the attrition
• Ensure global BPMS process followed in sizing
• Develop awareness of team towards OSHAS & QMS standard requirement

Pre-order support:

• Support to Sales for enquiries Sizing (Selection) of the compressors by performing the thermodynamic calculations & simulations; the most optimum, efficient, economical and accurate (with Zero error) solution meeting customer specification
• Support to SERV for critical revamp & field issues including site visits, if necessary
• Compressor sizing support for strategic applications
• Review(4 eye) of sizing output & ensure 100% accuracy in sizing calculation
• Stretch to deliver on-time & ensure 100% accuracy at all times
• Resolving open issues, queries with Client & other internal stakeholders

Post-order support:

• Detail review of the customer specification and regularize compressor sizing in collaboration with Headquarter; identify the deviations (if any) & the scope of deliverables, Co-ordinate with Project Manager/stakeholders to conclude open issues and release the compressor performance reports, Valve dynamic analysis, actuator spring sizing etc. as per schedule
• Resolve open issues with Client, in co-ordination with Project manager & other stakeholders

Special Studies & calculations:

• Preliminary selection of the coupling and performing Torsional Analysis to confirm the drive train suitability.
• Perform other calculations in general mechanical engineering, e. g. component strength etc.
• Support to R&D for special projects

Education, Experience and Language:

• BE / ME in Mechanical Engineering with 10+years of experience
• Familiar with ISO, OSHAS & Greenco standard
• Familiar with International standard like API 618, ASME, ASTM, DIN etc.
• Fundamental knowledge of compressors, thermodynamics, Heat transfer,sizing of compressors
• MS Office tools, expertise in MS excel will be an advantage
• Knowledge of German is an added advantage.

Special Requirements:

• Knowledge of thermodynamics, mechanics, Heat transfer.
• This role demands deep understanding of compressor and its application in industries.
• Sizing being a continuous process, enquiry processing takes time and hence require patience, dedication and focused approach to deliver right solution within stipulated timeframe.
• Ability to handle stress.
• Excellent communication skills to co-ordinate with Swiss parent company and other departments to cater customer / market requirements.
