Job summary

Burckhardt Compression seeks a senior Mechanical Engineer to lead a team ofCustomer Project Execution Engineers, driving the full lifecycle from order receipt through engineering release. You will ensure delivery within budget and aligned with customer requirements and Burckhardt standards.

Responsibilities include coordinating Sales, Design, Sizing, MDM, Procurement, Quality, Production, Testing, and Service to maintain KPIs, manage changes, and mentor the team across global locations.

Qualifications

• Graduate in Mechanical engineering with 10+ years of industrial experience, preferably in rotating equipment.
• Strong experience in customer order execution and project management.
• Experience with global stakeholders and customers.
• Proficiency in English; knowledge of German is an added advantage.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of Customer Project Execution Engineers to ensure orders progress from receipt to final release.
• Drive on-time and within-budget delivery meeting customer specs and Burckhardt standards.
• Monitor scope, schedule, hours, risks, and milestones across projects.
• Address customer requirements, specifications and contractual obligations.
• Serve as escalation point for complex technical and execution issues.

Job description

Lead a team of Customer Project Execution Engineers responsible for the successful execution of compressor orders from order receipt through engineering deliverables and manufacturing release. Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and in compliance with customer requirements, technical specifications, quality standards, and organizational KPIs. The role requires strong technical competence in reciprocating compressors, project management capability, cross-functional coordination, customer focus, and leadership skills to drive operational excellence and continuous improvement.

Customer Project Execution

• Ensure successful execution of compressor projects from order handover through final engineering release.
• Drive timely completion of customer-specific engineering activities, documentation, and deliverables.
• Monitor project scope, schedule, engineering hours, risks, and milestones.
• Ensure customer requirements, specifications, and contractual obligations are fully addressed.
• Act as escalation point for complex technical and execution-related issues.

Technical & Engineering Coordination

• Support the team in resolving technical challenges related to reciprocating compressor systems and packages.
• Ensure engineering deliverables comply with Burckhardt Standards, customer specifications, and international codes.
• Review critical engineering decisions and customer deviations.
• Drive technical alignment among Sales, Design, Sizing, MDM, Procurement, Quality, Production, Testing, and Service teams.
• Ensure effective management of engineering changes throughout project execution.
• Participate in order transfer meetings and ensure smooth transition from Sales to Project Execution.
• Maintain regular communication with internal and external stakeholders.
• Support customer discussions on technical clarifications, deviations, and engineering solutions.
• Build strong relationships with global stakeholders across Burckhardt Compression locations.

Project Management & Delivery Excellence

• Track project KPIs including schedule adherence, engineering productivity, quality performance, and budget compliance.
• Identify project risks and implement mitigation measures proactively.
• Ensure timely escalation of issues that could impact delivery commitments.
• Drive recovery plans for projects at risk.
• Support forecasting, capacity planning, and resource utilization activities.
• Lead initiatives to improve project execution efficiency, quality, and customer satisfaction.
• Standardize engineering practices and project execution processes.
• Promote lessons learned and knowledge sharing across the organization.
• Support cost optimization and productivity improvement projects.
• Lead, mentor, and develop a team of Customer Project Execution Engineers.
• Allocate projects and balance workload across team members.
• Monitor project delivery performance and ensure adherence to committed schedules.
• Review engineering deliverables and provide technical guidance where required.
• Build team competencies through coaching, training, and performance management.
• Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

Education, Experience and Languages:

• Graduate in Mechanical engineering with 10+ years of industrial experience preferably in rotating equipment.
• Strong experience in customer order execution and project management.
• Experience working with global stakeholders and customers.
• Experience with ERP systems preferably SAP, UGNX or Similar 3D modelling tool.
• Proficiency in English language and knowledge of German language will be an added advantage.
