Burckhardt Compression AG is seeking a Sr Compressor Specialist I&C in India with extensive experience in electrical, instrumentation, and control systems for compressors. You will troubleshoot, evaluate warranty claims, perform RCA, and assist with IDS and technical reporting for DPS projects.

The role includes back-office technical support, knowledge sharing, and collaboration with Field Service, Sales, and Quality teams to improve reliability and performance across compressor systems.

Qualifications

• Diploma/ BE in Instrument & Control Engineering with 10–12 years of experience in compressor systems.
• Experience in troubleshooting PLC, DCS, SCADA and compressor control systems.
• Experience in field service in Refineries, Petrochemicals, and Industrial Gas segments.

Responsibilities

• Act as the primary technical contact for electrical, instrumentation, and control issues.
• Provide third-level technical support and complex troubleshooting.
• Prepare IDS (Inquiry Data Sheet) for DPS quotations.

Position: Sr Compressor Specialist I&C

Compressor Specialist – Electrical, Instrumentation & Control (I&C) serves as the primary technical expert and customer contact for all compressor-related electrical, instrumentation, control, and automation matters. The role is responsible for technical troubleshooting, warranty claim evaluation, root cause analysis, customer complaint management, technical training, knowledge sharing, and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance equipment reliability, operational efficiency, and customer satisfaction.

The additional responsibility also includes back office technical support to DPS business in India.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Support & Customer Interface

• Act as the primary technical contact for customers regarding electrical, instrumentation, and control-related compressor issues.
• Provide third-level technical support for service cases and complex troubleshooting activities.
• Prepare the technical Quires/resolution based on the requirements by customer for DPS.
• Support Field Service Representatives (FSR), Field Service Specialists (FSS), and Sales Support teams with technical clarifications and solutions.
• Detect, diagnose, and resolve compressor and plant control system issues at customer sites.
• Advise customers on technical solutions and corrective actions to improve equipment performance and reliability.
• Preparation of IDS (Inquiry Data Sheet) contains complete information to prepare a technical quotation compliant with each customer inquiry for Digital Product & Services (DPS).

Warranty & Claims Management

• Analyze customer complaints, warranty claims, and non-conformities related to compressor systems.
• Evaluate warranty applicability and recommend appropriate actions.
• Coordinate and manage warranty order execution and associated service activities.
• Ensure timely and cost-effective resolution of contractual and warranty issues.
• Lead or actively participate in Root Cause Analysis (RCA) investigations for equipment failures and operational issues.
• Collaborate with Technical Consultancy teams to prepare detailed technical reports.
• Participate in task forces to identify causes of failures and implement corrective and preventive actions.
• Drive technical improvement initiatives based on field experience, customer feedback, and reliability data.
• Review of technical specifications from Customer related to Instrumentation and machine monitoring systems for technical support for DPS.

Customer Complaint & Quality Management

• Coordinate customer complaint, claim, and non-conformity management processes.

Interface with customers, agents, contractors, project managers, and internal stakeholders

• Transfer manufacturing-related issues and feedback to Quality and Operations departments for corrective action.
• Collect and feedback on technical improvements to product management based on experience as well as customer service and support related topics for DPS.

Knowledge Management & Training

• Develop technical training materials, operating guidelines, and troubleshooting documentation.
• Conduct classroom and hands-on training programs for customers and internal employees.
• Promote knowledge management and technical knowledge sharing across the organization.
• Responsible for minimizing the time between customer inquiry and IDS submission to maximize time available for quotation preparation for DPS.

Reliability & Operational Excellence

• Participate in verification, definition, and implementation of product and process improvements.
• Contribute to enhancing customer satisfaction through responsive technical support and effective problem resolution

Education/ experience / languages:

• Diploma/ BE with Instrument & Control Engineering with min 10 to 12 years of relevant experience in compressor systems, rotating equipment, industrial automation, or process plant maintenance
• Previous Customer service experience in field support in Refineries, Petrochemicals! fertilizers, Industrial Gas segment with reciprocating compressors
• Beside the electrical, programming and control skills, basic mechanical know how is expected.
• Experience in troubleshooting PLC, DCS, SCADA, and compressor control systems.
• Proven experience in root cause analysis, warranty management, and customer technical support.
• Exposure to oil & gas, petrochemical, refining, chemical, power, or industrial process industries preferred.
