Job summary

3M in Bangalore (Hebbal), hybrid mode, is seeking a Product Taxonomist to design and govern the Global Product Hierarchy and related metadata.

You will collaborate with marketers and engineers worldwide, drive schema projects, and optimize data management processes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business Information Systems, Library Science, or a related field.
• 6 to 9 years of experience with Product Information Management (PIM), Master Data Management (MDM), Content Management System (CMS), and/or Digital Asset Management (DAM) systems.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for the design and management of 3M’s product taxonomy (Global Product Hierarchy) including the structure, attribution schema, and metadata.
• Managing and delivering on key schema definition projects, prioritized by 3M business stakeholders, and supporting related taxonomies and hierarchies.
• Engaging with 3M’s divisional marketers and application engineers for strategic input and requirements gathering.
• Implementing changes to internal processes on behalf of the team and supporting governance policies & principles.
• Identifying opportunities for optimization within the organization as it relates to data management.
• Willing to assist different teams across the business with guidance or project support related to the GPH or related hierarchies.

Your Skills and Expertise

To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business Information Systems, Library Science, or a related field.
• Overall, 6 to 9 years of experience, including hands‑on experience working with Product Information Management (PIM), Master Data Management (MDM), Content Management System (CMS), and/or Digital Asset Management (DAM) systems.

Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:

• Experience working with Hybris Backoffice and/or Informatica P360 to support product content, taxonomy, and data management activities.
• Proven ability to translate insights into action and leverage technology to accelerate and improve content operations.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to engage multiple stakeholders, including senior management, supported by in-depth knowledge of 3M’s structure, organization, and cross‑functional business environment.
• Demonstrated commitment to continuous learning, best practices, educating others, and solving complex business problems effectively.
