Job summary

Bounteous is seeking a senior BI / Analytics Engineer to drive enterprise BI initiatives from Chennai. You will architect data sources in Tableau, optimize extract performance, and translate complex business requirements into scalable analytics solutions.

You will lead governance, KPIs, and a BI roadmap while mentoring analysts and developers. Strong SQL, Tableau, and Greenplum experience are essential; Python/R are a plus.

Qualifications

• 8+ years in BI / Analytics Engineering or equivalent.
• Advanced Tableau expertise and data modelling skills.
• Strong SQL skills, experience with MPP databases (preferably Greenplum).
• Experience leading analytics initiatives and collaborating with stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Define and implement Live vs. Extract strategy for data sources.
• Build optimized Tableau data sources from Greenplum or other DWs.
• Develop complex calculations and dynamic user controls.
• Design executive dashboards with storytelling and UX best practices.
• Ensure data governance, security, versioning, and promotions.
• Partner with stakeholders to define KPIs and BI roadmap.

Data Source Development

• Define and implement Live vs. Extract strategy
• Build optimized Tableau data sources from Greenplum Database (or any Data Warehouse)
• Optimize extract performance and refresh strategies

Advanced Calculations & Business Logic

• Develop complex LOD expressions and table calculations
• Implement parameters and dynamic user controls
• Translate complex business logic into scalable Tableau solutions
• Design executive-level dashboards with strong storytelling principles
• Apply UX/UI best practices
• Optimize dashboard performance and scalability
• Develop drill-down and interactive analytics experiences

Governance & Administration

• Implement row-level security and data access controls
• Establish versioning and promotion processes
• Define and maintain BI governance standards

Analytics & Business KPIs

• Partner with stakeholders to gather and refine requirements
• Define KPIs and standardize metric definitions across the organization
• Validate data quality and ensure trust in reporting
• Translate business problems into scalable data solutions
• Build and execute a BI roadmap
• Mentor and guide analysts and BI developers

• Deep understanding of: Experience leading analytics initiatives and working directly with business stakeholders

Nice to have

• Exposure to AI, ML Models, LLMs, RAG, agentic workflows
• Experience with Python or R for advanced analytics
• Experience scaling BI in large, complex data environments
• Knowledge of data governance frameworks
• Familiarity with cloud data ecosystems
