Job summary

Siemens Mobility in Bengaluru seeks a System Engineer – TCMS HVAC Functions to drive development and integration of HVAC functionalities within the Train Control & Management System. You will work with cross-functional teams to ensure reliable climate control, passenger comfort, monitoring, and operational efficiency across rolling stock platforms.

You will design and implement HVAC operation logic, interfaces, diagnostics, and fault handling, while ensuring compliance with industry standards

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical, Electronics, Instrumentation, or related engineering field.
• 5–10 years of TCMS, rolling stock, HVAC, or train control system engineering.
• Hands-on experience developing control documents (RArS, SWrS) and interface specs.
• Experience with HVAC systems, climate control logic, diagnostics, and ops functionalities.
• Hands-on experience with MVB, WTB, Ethernet, TRDP, and onboard comm protocols.
• Strong knowledge of train subsystems and railway standards (IEC/EN).
• Ability to work in cross-functional and multicultural teams.
• Exposure to energy management, diagnostics, cybersecurity emphasized is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Define and develop HVAC functionalities within TCMS architecture.
• Develop operation logics for cooling, heating, ventilation, temperature control, eco modes, and sequences.
• Align with suppliers and develop RArS, SWrS, interface documents, and test specs.
• Define communication interfaces with HVAC systems using MVB, Ethernet, WTB, or TRDP.
• Develop fault handling, diagnostics, alarm management, and monitoring concepts for HVAC.
• Define temperature supervision, energy optimization, passenger comfort, and protections.
• Prepare and review system specifications, functional descriptions, and interface docs.
• Coordinate with system, software, RAMS, testing, and cybersecurity teams.
• Ensure compliance with IEC 61131, IEC 61375, IEC 50128, EN 50657.
• Support technical discussions and issue resolution; drive reliability improvements.

Job Summary

As a System Engineer – TCMS HVAC Functions, you will be responsible for development and integration of HVAC functionalities within the Train Control & Management System (TCMS). You will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure reliable climate control, passenger comfort, monitoring, and operational efficiency across rolling stock platforms.

Your Roles & Responsibilities

• Define and develop HVAC functionalities within TCMS architecture.
• Develop operation logics related to cooling, heating, ventilation, temperature control, eco modes, and HVAC operational sequences.
• Alignment with component suppliers and development of RArS, SWrS, interface documents, and test specifications.
• Define communication interfaces with HVAC systems using MVB, Ethernet, WTB, or TRDP protocols.
• Develop fault handling, diagnostics, alarm management, and operational monitoring concepts for HVAC systems.
• Define functionalities related to temperature supervision, energy optimization, passenger comfort, and HVAC protections.
• Prepare and review system specifications, functional descriptions, and interface documents.
• Coordinate with system, software, RAMS, testing, and cybersecurity teams for successful project execution.
• Ensure compliance with IEC 61131, IEC 61375, IEC 50128, EN 50657, and project-specific requirements.
• Support technical discussions, requirement clarifications, and issue resolution activities.
• Contribute to improving reliability, maintainability, and operational efficiency of train HVAC systems.

Desired Skills

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical, Electronics, Instrumentation, or related engineering field.
• 5–10 years of experience in TCMS, rolling stock, HVAC systems, or train control system engineering.
• Hands‑on experience in development of control documents such as RArS, SWrS, interface specifications, and test specifications.
• Experience in HVAC systems, climate control logic development, diagnostics, and operational functionalities.
• Hands‑on experience with MVB, WTB, Ethernet, TRDP, and onboard communication protocols.
• Sound knowledge of train subsystems such as traction, brake, doors, HVAC, auxiliary systems, and vehicle control functions.
• Good understanding of railway standards such as IEC 61131, IEC 61375, IEC 50128, and EN 50657.
• Ability to work effectively in cross‑functional and multicultural engineering teams.
• Exposure to energy management, diagnostics, cybersecurity, or condition monitoring concepts will be an added advantage.
