Job summary

Siemens Mobility in Bengaluru seeks a System Engineer – TCMS Operation Modes to develop and integrate train operation mode functionalities within the Train Control & Management System (TCMS). You will work closely with cross‑functional teams to ensure safe, reliable, and optimized train operational behaviour across different operating scenarios.

Your roles include defining operation modes, interlocking conditions, safety criteria, and coordinating with traction, brake, doors, HVAC and vehicle

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical, Electronics, Instrumentation, Computer Science, or related engineering field.
  • 5–10 years of experience in TCMS, rolling stock, or train control system engineering.
  • Hands‑on experience with control documents such as RArS, SWrS, interface specifications, and test specifications.

Responsibilities

  • Define and develop train operation mode functionalities within TCMS architecture.
  • Develop operation logics for modes like startup, standby, normal, degraded, rescue, emergency, sleep, shutdown modes, etc..
  • Define interlocking conditions, mode transition criteria, safety conditions, and operational sequences.
  • Alignment with component suppliers and development of RArS, SWrS, interface documents, and test specifications.
  • Coordinate operation mode interfaces with traction, brake, doors, HVAC, auxiliary, and vehicle control systems.
  • Develop fault handling, diagnostics, alarm management, and operational monitoring concepts related to operation modes.
  • Prepare and review system specifications, functional descriptions, and interface documents.
  • Coordinate with system, software, RAMS, testing, and cybersecurity teams for successful project execution.
  • Ensure compliance with IEC 61131, IEC 61375, IEC 50128, EN 50657, and project‑specific requirements.
  • Support technical discussions, requirement clarifications, and issue resolution activities.
  • Contribute to improving reliability, maintainability, and operational safety of train control systems.

Job Summary:

As a System Engineer – TCMS Operation Modes, you will be responsible for development and integration of train operation mode functionalities within the Train Control & Management System (TCMS).   • Hands‑on experience in development of control documents such as RArS, SWrS, interface specifications, and test specifications.
  • Experience in train operation modes, vehicle operational sequences, and train control logic development.
  • Hands‑on experience with MVB, WTB, Ethernet, TRDP, and onboard communication protocols.
  • Sound knowledge of train subsystems such as traction, brake, doors, HVAC, auxiliary systems, and vehicle control functions.
  • Good understanding of railway standards such as IEC 61131, IEC 61375, IEC 50128, and EN 50657.
  • Ability to work effectively in cross‑functional and multicultural engineering teams.
  • Exposure to safety concepts, diagnostics, cybersecurity, or condition monitoring will be an added advantage.
