Job summary

Neev is seeking a System Administrator – L1 to manage day-to-day enterprise server operations. You will monitor, troubleshoot, and perform routine maintenance across VMware, Windows Server, and Linux (RHEL) environments.

Responsibilities include patch management, backup monitoring, hardware health checks, and coordinating with vendor teams for incidents, with adherence to ITIL-based processes and SOPs.

Qualifications

  • Experience in VMware ESXi and vCenter administration.
  • Experience administering Windows Server and/or RHEL.
  • Familiarity with OS patching using approved procedures.
  • Ability to monitor backups and restore VM data.
  • Experience with hardware troubleshooting and OEM coordination.
  • Familiar with ITIL incident/change/problem management and SOPs.

Responsibilities

  • Perform scheduled OS patching and post-patching validation.
  • Monitor backup jobs and perform restores.

  • Escalate to L2/L3 teams with detailed information.

Job description

Job Title: System Administrator – L1

Role Overview: We are looking for a skilled System Administrator L1 to provide day-to-day operational support for enterprise server infrastructure. The candidate will be responsible for monitoring, troubleshooting, maintenance, incident resolution, and executing standard operational procedures across physical and virtual server environments.

Key Responsibilities
VMware Administration
  • Provide operational support for VMware environments, including basic administration of ESXi and vCenter.
  • Monitor ESXi hosts, virtual machines, datastores, and resource utilization.
  • Perform VM provisioning, power operations, snapshots, basic troubleshooting, and assist with VM migrations.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot basic VMware alerts and alarms.
  • Coordinate with L2/L3/OEM teams for complex VMware issues.
Server Operating Systems
  • Administer and provide operational support for Microsoft Windows Server and/or Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL).
  • Perform basic OS-level troubleshooting, issue resolution, and manage user accounts, services, processes, and configurations.
  • Monitor CPU, memory, disk, filesystem, services, and overall system health.
  • Coordinate OS-related incidents with respective L2/L3 teams when required.
OS Patching
  • Perform scheduled Windows and RHEL OS patching according to approved procedures and maintenance windows.
  • Conduct pre-patching health checks and post-patching validation to ensure application/service availability.
  • Troubleshoot patching-related issues and maintain patching records and operational documentation.
Backup Technology
  • Monitor backup jobs, schedules, status, and backup infrastructure to identify failed or incomplete backups.
  • Perform basic backup troubleshooting, job re-runs, and file/folder/VM-level restore activities.
  • Coordinate with L2/L3 or backup OEM support teams for complex issues.
Server Hardware
  • Troubleshoot physical server hardware components (CPU, memory, disks/SSDs, RAID, power supplies, network interfaces, HBA/storage connectivity).
  • Monitor server health and hardware alerts.
  • Work with OEM support teams for hardware replacement, conduct health checks, and maintain hardware inventory.
Monitoring & Incident Management
  • Monitor infrastructure using enterprise monitoring tools and respond to alerts, incidents, and requests within defined SLAs.
  • Perform initial troubleshooting, root-cause identification, and escalation issues to L2/L3 teams with relevant details.
  • Participate in ITIL-based incident, change, and problem management processes while following SOPs and security policies.
