Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering, Mechanical, Civil, or related field.
• Postgraduate qualification in Environmental Engineering or Sustainability is an asset.
• Experience in sustainability, green buildings, environmental management or construction projects.
• Knowledge of sustainable construction practices, energy efficiency, water conservation, and waste management.

Responsibilities

• Implement sustainability strategies across real estate development and construction projects.
• Support green building certification processes (IGBC, GRIHA, LEED).
• Coordinate with architects, MEP teams, project managers, and contractors to embed sustainable design and construction.
• Monitor energy consumption, water use, waste management, and environmental performance indicators.
• Recommend energy-efficient systems, water conservation, rainwater harvesting, and renewable energy solutions.
• Support sustainable materials, construction waste reduction, and resource optimization.
• Conduct site inspections and sustainability audits to ensure compliance with standards.
• Prepare sustainability reports, checklists, and performance tracking documents.
• Assist in collecting and verifying documentation for green certifications.
• Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and project sustainability guidelines.
• Coordinate with consultants, vendors, and internal teams to meet timelines and budgets.
• Identify opportunities to reduce carbon emissions and operating costs across projects.

Job Description

We are looking for a qualified and environmentally conscious Sustainability Engineer to support the planning, design, construction, and operation of sustainable real estate projects. The candidate will be responsible for implementing sustainable building practices, improving energy and water efficiency, monitoring environmental performance, and supporting green building certification and regulatory compliance.

Key Responsibilities

• Implement sustainability strategies across real estate development and construction projects.
• Support green building certification processes, including IGBC, GRIHA, and LEED.
• Coordinate with architects, structural consultants, MEP teams, project managers, and contractors to integrate sustainable design and construction practices.
• Monitor energy consumption, water usage, waste management, and other environmental performance indicators.
• Recommend energy-efficient systems, water conservation measures, rainwater harvesting, wastewater treatment, and renewable energy solutions.
• Support the implementation of sustainable materials, construction waste reduction, and resource optimization practices.
• Conduct site inspections and sustainability audits to ensure compliance with project requirements and environmental standards.
• Prepare sustainability reports, documentation, checklists, and performance tracking reports.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
• A postgraduate qualification in Environmental Engineering, Sustainability, or a related field will be an added advantage.
• Relevant experience in sustainability, green buildings, environmental management, or construction projects.
• Knowledge of sustainable construction practices, energy efficiency, water conservation, and waste management.

Required Skills

• Understanding of green building rating systems such as IGBC, LEED, or GRIHA.
• Knowledge of environmental compliance, sustainability reporting, and building performance assessment.
• Proficiency in MS Excel, MS Word, PowerPoint, and documentation tools.
• Strong analytical, reporting, communication, and coordination skills.
• Ability to work with multidisciplinary teams and manage project documentation.
• Attention to detail and a practical approach to implementing sustainability measures on construction sites.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working with real estate developers, construction companies, green building consultants, or infrastructure projects.
• IGBC Accredited Professional, LEED Green Associate/AP, GRIHA-related training, or other relevant sustainability credentials.
• Exposure to energy modelling, water balance calculations, carbon footprint assessment, and construction waste management.
• Familiarity with applicable environmental standards and local regulatory requirements.
