Sigma Earth seeks an experienced Environmental Planning & Strategy specialist to develop and implement project-specific environmental approaches across feasibility, design, construction and operations, ensuring alignment with regulations, lender requirements, and client sustainability objectives.
You will lead EIAs/ESIAs, obtain MoEFCC/SEIAA approvals, design EMPs/CEMPs, and coordinate with air, water, noise, ecology and socio-economic experts to deliver integrated environmental outcomes for
Develop and implement project-specific environmental strategies across all stages-feasibility, design, construction, and operations- ensuring alignment with applicable regulations, lender requirements, and client sustainability objectives.
Lead comprehensive EIAs/ESIAs, IEEs, baseline environmental studies, and alternatives analysis. Coordinate inputs from multiple disciplines such as air quality, water, noise, soil, ecology, and socio-economic experts to deliver integrated assessments.
Manage the complete lifecycle of environmental clearances, including MoEF&CC/SEIAA approvals, SPCB consent to establish/operate, and ongoing compliance with permit conditions during construction and operational phases.
Design and implement Environmental Management Plans (EMPs/CEMPs), biodiversity conservation plans, waste and hazardous materials management strategies, spill response frameworks, and site restoration plans.
Develop compliance tracking systems, conduct internal audits and inspections, ensure closure of non-conformances, and prepare statutory submissions and stakeholder compliance reports.
Define environmental monitoring frameworks, oversee field data collection and QA/QC processes, and apply modelling tools (AERMOD, CALPUFF, noise and water models) to assess and mitigate environmental impacts.
Integrate environmental controls into construction methodologies, contractor deliverables, and BOQs. Review contractor environmental plans and ensure effective on-site implementation and compliance.
Plan and facilitate public consultations, regulatory hearings, and stakeholder engagements. Address grievances and incorporate feedback into project design and environmental management strategies.
Ensure compliance with international frameworks such as IFC Performance Standards, World Bank/EBRD EHS Guidelines, Equator Principles, and client-specific ESG requirements.
Assess climate-related risks, develop GHG inventories, evaluate carbon impacts, and recommend mitigation/adaptation strategies aligned with sustainability goals and reporting standards.
Maintain environmental risk registers, drive corrective and preventive actions, and ensure timely resolution of environmental issues with clear accountability.
Prepare audit-ready environmental reports, dashboards, regulatory submissions, and performance summaries for internal and external stakeholders.
Lead multidisciplinary environmental teams, provide technical guidance, conduct reviews, deliver training, and promote best practices across junior engineers and specialists.
Bachelor’s (B.E./B.Tech) and/or Master’s degree (M.E./M.Tech) in Environmental Engineering or M.Sc. in Environmental Science.
Minimum 12 years of experience in environmental assessment, permitting, compliance, and management for infrastructure or industrial sectors such as transport, water, energy, buildings, or manufacturing.
Strong understanding of Indian environmental regulations, including EIA Notification 2006, Water & Air Acts, Hazardous Waste Rules, Noise Rules, and related permitting frameworks.
Experience in baseline studies, impact prediction, mitigation design, EMP/CEMP preparation, contractor oversight, and environmental field assessments.
Proficiency in environmental monitoring methods, QA/QC systems, GIS tools (ArcGIS/QGIS), and modelling software for air, noise, and water quality analysis.
Strong ability to prepare technical reports, deliver presentations, and communicate complex environmental findings in a clear, actionable format.
Familiarity with ISO 14001 Environmental Management Systems and integration with ISO 45001 and broader project HSE frameworks.
