Job Purpose: -
- The Material Planning Head is responsible for end-to-end material planning, ensuring Optimum Stock Availability, timely procurement requisitions, & Seamless Coordination between Production, Purchase, Sales/Support, Dispatch, Store & Accounts teams to support uninterrupted business operations.
- Coordinates with Production, Purchase, Sales/Support, Dispatch, Store & Accounts teams
- The Supply Chain Manager / Material Planning Manager leads end-to-end supply chain strategies with a direct focus on material requirement planning (MRP), inventory optimization, Vendor Management, & Production Alignment. This role ensures uninterrupted raw material availability for manufacturing while minimizing inventory holding costs & eliminating Supply Bottlenecks.
Qualifications & Experience
- Masters / Bachelors degree in Supply Chain Management, Business
Administration, Engineering, or a related field with 10 + (10 to 15 ) years of progressive experience in material planning, procurement or supply chain management within a manufacturing or production environment in Engineering companies
- Advanced proficiency with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP/MRP) platforms (e.g., SAP S/4HANA, Oracle SCM, Microsoft Dynamics).
- Strong mastery of MS Excel (VLOOKUP, Pivot Tables, data modeling) & data analytics tools (Power BI, Tableau).

Key Responsibilities
Material Planning & Inventory Control
- Oversee Material Requirements Planning processes to ensure raw materials, components, &consumables arrive on schedule to support master production schedules.
- Establish & maintain optimal inventory levels, for all critical materials , Minimum / Maximum thresholds, safety stock targets, &cycle counting procedures to prevent stockouts & reduce excess inventory.
- Raise Purchase Requisitions for below-level stock or any new requirement.
- Carry out planning for Aluminium Pipes, Inhouse Fittings, Customized Fittings, Valves, Pipe Clips, Non-Standard Hardware Fittings, SS Pipe &Fittings, Instruments (project-wise), Support & Structural Materials, & Imported RWC Fittings. Aluminum alloy (EN AW 6061 T6) & stainless steel , Elbows , Tees & Crosses , Adapters & Reducers , Couplings etc.
- Monitor material obsolescence, calculate runout dates, & manage excess/aging inventory disposal strategies.
- Monitor supplier performance through metrics such as On-Time In-Full (OTIF), quality non-conformances, &cost variance.
- Build strategic relationships with key suppliers to mitigate global supply chain risks & single-source dependencies.
Production Alignment & Sales Operations Planning (S&OP)
- Collaborate with Demand Planning, Sales, &Production teams to reconcile demand forecasts with material availability &plant capacity.
- Translate rolling sales forecasts into detailed raw material requirements &actionable purchase schedules.
- Logistics & Process Optimization
- Manage inbound &outbound freight movements, working with logistics partners to ensure cost-efficient transportation &timely delivery.
- Analyze operational data to eliminate supply chain bottlenecks &implement Lean / Continuous Improvement initiatives.
Daily Routine: -
- Check &respond to all received mails on a daily basis.
- Update material availability status to Sales/Support teams for client / dealer requirements.
- Share the dispatch plan with the Dispatch Team on a daily basis.
- Coordinate pre-packing of materials for scheduled dispatches.
- Follow up with Sales/Support teams on partial or pending material dispatches.
- Resolve queries from Sales/Support teams related to materials or rates not covered in the price list.
- Continuously coordinate with the Production &Purchase teams for ordered materials.
- Follow up with the Purchase/Production teams for urgent material
- requirements.
- Liaise with the Accounts team on payment &stock-related matters.
- Coordinate with the Store team on a continuous basis to verify physical stock & resolve entry discrepancies.
- Use the Click Up system to place material orders &follow up with the
- Purchase team.
Periodic / Strategic Responsibilities: -
- Prepare the material order plan &secure approval from Management before processing further.
- Meet with the Production Team to review material urgency &share the list & delivery schedule of required materials.
- Meet with the Purchase Team to review project status &pending materials.
- Attend kick-off meetings for new projects.
Key Skills & Competencies: -
- In depth knowledge of material/inventory planning &stock management practices.
- Ability to coordinate effectively across cross-functional teams (Production, Purchase, Sales, Dispatch, Store, Accounts).
- Working knowledge of ERP/Project Management Tools such as Click Up.
- Strong follow-up, prioritization, &problem-solving skills.
- Good communication skills to resolve pricing &availability queries with Sales/Support teams.
- Attention to detail for stock accuracy &discrepancy resolution.
