Job summary

Nordson Corporation in Bangalore, India, is seeking a Supply Chain Engineer to join our team. You will identify, research, evaluate and select suppliers that meet price, quality, timing, and reliability standards, and you will be responsible for purchasing and inventory management of a group of commodities.

Responsibilities include sourcing from new and existing suppliers from engineering drawings, managing supplier relationships, negotiating long-term contracts, and driving cost improvements

Qualifications

• Educated to degree level or equivalent, ideally in an engineering subject.
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in a strategic purchasing role.
• Ability to work from engineering drawings/technical specifications and source for electro mechanical assemblies.
• Experience in material requirements planning (MRP) procurement related to manufacturing is essential.
• Development and management of pull or JIT supply chains to support forecast driven build to order.

Responsibilities

• Identify, research, evaluate and select new suppliers that meet price, quality, timing, and reliability of supply.
• Responsible for the purchasing and inventory management.
• Sourcing of new components and assemblies from new and existing suppliers, working from engineering drawings/technical specifications.
• Responsible for supplier relationship management.
• Maintain an appropriate meeting schedule with suppliers and provide feedback to management on issues arising.
• Liaise with the S ensuring that any supply chain problems affecting production are resolved efficiently.
• Work closely with R&D on NPI projects to meet product release deadlines.
• Lead negotiations of long-term supply contracts
• Identify specific areas for cost savings, make recommendations and implement improvements where required.

Summary of the role

While working as a Supply Chain Engineer you will:

• Identify, research, evaluate and select suppliers that meet the organization’s standards of price, quality, timing, and reliability of supply.
• Be responsible for the purchasing and inventory management of a group of commodities.
• Support the commercial and contractual supply chain activities associated with procuring materials and services in support of the manufacture and service of the assigned commodities.
• Purchase the necessary quantities of raw materials, equipment supplies and services at the most economical cost and lowest inventory, for delivery at the time and location specified
• Drive improvements in annual total costs for specific commodities and products
