Job summary

SAI Hr Consultants is seeking an experienced Supplier Quality Head in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. You will lead supplier quality management, supplier development, and strengthen manufacturing processes for domestic and export products.

The role requires hands-on expertise across forging, machining, and casting operations, with a focus on process capability and quality assurance. You will evaluate and qualify suppliers, drive tooling improvements, read engineering drawings, and implement SQC

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience in forging and machining or casting and machining.
• Strong knowledge of machining processes, tooling, and manufacturing methods.
• Proven experience in supplier selection, development, and technical feasibility assessment.
• Strong understanding of engineering drawings and measurement methodologies.
• Practical experience in supplier troubleshooting, process optimization, and statistical quality control.
• Working knowledge of IATF 16949 and supplier quality system development.
• Ability to work effectively with suppliers and cross-functional teams with dedication.

• Engineering Drawings: Read, interpret, and understand engineering drawings, dimensional tolerances, and component specifications.
• Measurement Methodology: Possess thorough knowledge of measurement techniques and inspection methodologies to ensure dimensional accuracy.
• Supplier Troubleshooting: Provide hands-on technical guidance to suppliers in resolving manufacturing and quality issues arising during intermediate and final production stages.
• Statistical Quality Control: Demonstrate practical knowledge of SQC tools, including process capability studies such as Cp and Cpk, to monitor and improve process performance.
• Quality System Development: Establish and strengthen supplier quality systems to ensure process stability, defect prevention, and consistent product quality.
• IATF 16949: Ensure supplier quality processes comply with applicable IATF 16949 requirements and defined quality standards.
• New Product Development: Work closely with cross-functional teams (CFT) during new product and process development to ensure technical feasibility, supplier readiness, and quality compliance.
