Job summary

Blue Ocean Consulting Pune is seeking a Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE) with substantial hands-on manufacturing experience to manage supplier quality, conduct supplier assessments, and drive continuous quality improvements. You will ensure timely delivery and lead structured problem-solving at supplier locations.

The role requires strong analytical and communication skills, the ability to work independently on-site at supplier sites, and deep knowledge of GD&T, PPAP/APQP, and ISO 9001 / IATF

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Assess supplier capability across machining, fabrication, casting, and related processes.
• Develop suppliers to meet quality, process capability, and delivery targets.
• Support robust manufacturing and inspection processes with suppliers.
• Monitor improvement plans and verify effectiveness.
• Lead 8D, Root Cause Analysis, 5 Why, Fishbone and Pareto analyses.
• Hands-on knowledge of measurement and inspection equipment used in manufacturing.
• Interpret engineering drawings and GD&T requirements.
• Good knowledge of PPAP documentation & APQP.
• Exposure to ISO 9001 / IATF 16949 requirements is preferred.
• Strong communication with multiple stakeholders.

1. Position Summary

We are looking for an experienced Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE) with 58 years of experience in a manufacturing environment to manage supplier quality, conduct supplier assessments, develop supplier manufacturing capabilities, and drive continuous quality improvement & ensuring delivery timelines are met.

The role requires a hands-on approach, strong analytical and communication skills, and the ability to work independently at supplier locations. Role will perform supplier assessments, audits, development activities, problem solving, and quality improvement.

2. Key Responsibilities

• Assess supplier capability for machining, fabrication, forging, casting, heat treatment, welding, surface treatment, and other manufacturing processes as applicable.
• Develop suppliers to achieve required quality, process capability, and delivery performance.
• Support suppliers in establishing robust manufacturing and inspection processes.
• Monitor supplier improvement plans and verify effectiveness.
• Lead 8D, Root Cause Analysis, 5 Why, Fishbone, Pareto, and other structured problem-solving activities.
• The candidate should have good hands-on knowledge of measurement and inspection equipment used in manufacturing.
• Interpret engineering drawings and GD&T requirements.
• Good knowledge of PPAP documentation & APQP.
• Exposure to ISO 9001 / IATF 16949 requirements is preferred.
• Good understanding of materials, heat treatment, welding, dimensional control, and metallurgical testing.
• The candidate must possess strong communication skills and be able to effectively interact with various stakeholders.
