Job Purpose:
To review electrical quality and technical documents submitted by suppliers; assess compliance with purchase order requirements, project specifications, datasheets and applicable codes and standards; issue technically justified comments; and ensure timely completion of document review and approval cycles.
The position is based in India and is primarily an office-based vendor document review role rather than a routine field or shop inspection assignment. The SQE - Electrical will work closely with engineering, procurement, expediting and shop surveillance teams. Limited travel may be required for PIMs, FATs or critical inspection activities.
JOB DESCRIPTION
Document Review and Technical Commenting
- Review supplier quality and technical documents, including PQPs, ITPs, QCPs, FAT and test procedures, datasheets, drawings, certificates and inspection records, against contractual and technical requirements.
- Prepare technically justified comments, assign the applicable document review status and verify closure of previous comments.
- Assign the applicable document review status and record the basis for the decision.
- Review document revisions and verify the satisfactory closure of previous comments.
- Verify ITP intervention points and consistency among specifications, datasheets, drawings and procedures.
Electrical Documentation Review
- Review documentation for HV/MV/LV switchgear, MCCs, transformers, motors, VFDs, UPS/battery systems, generators, cables, junction boxes, lighting, earthing and other electrical equipment.
- Review the electrical scope of rotating, static and packaged equipment, including motors, generators, heaters, local panels, junction boxes, internal cabling, earthing, space heaters and electrical auxiliaries, and verify interfaces with the complete package.
- Review manufacturing, assembly, routine/type test and FAT procedures/reports and verify that test scope, acceptance criteria and tested configurations represent the ordered equipment.
- Review vendor SLDs, schematics, internal wiring, GAs, component/material lists, nameplates, protection and equipment certification documents for manufacturing compliance.
- Evaluate material and component certificates, calibrated test-equipment records, IP and, where applicable, ATEX/IECEx compliance, traceability, preservation and packing records.
Final Documentation and Nonconformities
- Review discipline documentation within MRBs, MDRs and final data books for completeness and compliance.
- Evaluate related NCRs, deviations, concessions and waivers, including supporting close-out evidence.
Process Monitoring and Coordination
- Track submissions, review dates, open comments and revisions through the VDRL/SDRL and EDMS.
- Coordinate and consolidate inputs from Client and ENKA Engineering, Procurement, Project Quality, Expediting and shop surveillance teams.
- Review technical queries and inspection reports received from shop inspectors, provide document-related technical support and monitor recurring supplier nonconformities.
- Attend supplier kick-off meetings, PIMs and technical clarification meetings when required.
Required Experience & Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Electrical and Electronics Engineering or an equivalent discipline.
- Minimum 10 years of experience in electrical QA/QC or supplier quality, including considerable vendor document review experience, preferably within oil and gas, petrochemical, power or industrial projects.
- Strong knowledge of electrical equipment manufacturing, assembly controls, inspection, routine/type testing and FAT requirements.
- Ability to review specifications, ITPs, datasheets, SLDs, schematics, wiring/loop diagrams, GAs, FAT documents and certification records.
- Ability to assess the electrical components, auxiliaries and interfaces incorporated into rotating, static and other multidisciplinary equipment packages.
- Working knowledge of applicable IEC, IEEE and NEMA standards, including IEC 62271, IEC 61439, IEC 60076, IEC 60034, IEC 60502, IEC 62040, IEC 60529 and IEC 60079, as relevant to the scope.
- Relevant professional certifications in electrical equipment inspection, hazardous-area compliance, quality or related technical disciplines are preferred.
- Good knowledge of ISO 9001 QMS requirements; auditor certification is preferred.
- High proficiency in written English, with the ability to prepare clear, concise and technically defensible comments.
