Quest Global in Chennai is seeking an experienced Subject Matter Expert (SME) in Machinery Safety & Compliance. The role demands deep expertise in ISO 13849, mechanical safeguarding, interlocks and safety reviews across CE, UL, and CSA marks.

You will lead risk assessments, safety function validation and compliance verification for industrial machinery projects. The candidate will collaborate with electrical, mechanical and controls teams to ensure safe, compliant and reliable systems from

Qualifications

8+ years hands-on experience in SPM electrical design, control panel design, electrical assembly and industrial automation.
Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or equivalent.
Experience implementing ISO 13849 standards across industrial machinery projects.

Responsibilities

Own/review machine risk assessments, safety functions, PLr determination and ISO 13849-1/-2 compliance, including SISTEMA calculations and safety validation.
Support the Mechanical team in identifying hazards and defining safe-guarding, access safety, interlocking, safety distances and risk-reduction during design.
Act as technical reviewer for CE, UL, and CSA machinery-safety compliance and identify gaps against standards.
Independently review mechanical, electrical and controls safety implementations to ensure defined safety functions are designed, verified and validated.
Provide corrective actions and guidance to reduce safety-related redesign, commissioning issues and compliance risks.

Candidate Profile

We are looking for Machinery Safety & Compliance Specialist with 8+ years of experience implementing ISO 13849 standards across industrial machinery projects. Specialises in mechanical safeguarding design, interlocks, access safety, and technical compliance reviews for CE, UL, and CSA marks.

Key Responsibilities

Machinery Safety: Own/review machine risk assessments, safety functions, PLr determination, and ISO 13849-1/-2 compliance, including SISTEMA calculations and safety validation.
Mechanical Safety Design: Support the Mechanical team in identifying hazards and defining safe-guarding, access, interlocking, safety distances, and risk-reduction measures during the design stage.
Technical Compliance Review: Act as the technical reviewer for CE, UL, and CSA machinery-safety compliance and identify gaps against applicable standards.
Design & Validation Review: Independently review mechanical, electrical, and controls safety implementations to ensure the defined safety functions are correctly designed, verified, and validated.
Compliance & Risk Reduction: Provide corrective actions and technical guidance to reduce safety-related redesign, commissioning issues, and compliance risks, supporting the machine through concept
