The Subject Matter Expert – Business Development is responsible for strengthening market development by ensuring effective field execution, product performance monitoring, farmer engagement quality, and capability development of Business Development Officers (BDOs). The person will guide field teams in improving farmer engagement models, ensuring adoption of products, validating field performance, and supporting product lifecycle improvement through structured feedback.

FocusProduct Performance Monitoring:-
- Monitor market performance,reliability, and farmer acceptance of focus products across assignedgeographies.
- Track field-level performance feedback,identify product efficacy issues, and ensure timely corrective actionrecommendations.
- Identify low-performing SKUs andprovide structured insights on agronomic, usage, or positioning gaps.
- Work closely with Sales, Marketing& R&D to ensure field messaging and application protocols are correctlyexecuted.
- Maintain and track product reliabilityindex based on farmer feedback and field outcomes.
- Drive year-on-year improvement inProduct Reliability Index through structured field validation and correctiveinterventions.
FieldProgram Execution & Engagement Quality
- Participate in and guide structuredfarmer engagement programs including demonstrations, crop meetings, and producttrials.
- Ensure quality and consistency of fieldactivities carried out by Business Development Officers.
- Evaluate effectiveness of farmerengagement programs through adoption rate, farmer satisfaction, and repeatusage metrics.
- Support conversion from demonstrationactivities to actual product adoption and sales through structured follow-upsand field validation
- Ensure field programssupport product positioning, crop solutions, and farmer trust building.
FarmerOutreach & Agronomic Guidance
- Conduct a defined number of farmervisits weekly and monthly to assess crop conditions and product usage outcomes.
- Provide expert agronomic guidance tofarmers and field teams on crop protection practices.
- Ensure the correct product usageprotocol is followed in demonstration and farmer adoption stages.
- Capture structured farmer insights andconvert them into actionable recommendations for marketing and product teams.
- Persistent adoption issues should be escalated through Sales leadershipwith recommended corrective actions such as demonstration redesign, dosagecorrection, or repositioning.
CapabilityDevelopment of Business Development Officers
- Conducton-the-job coaching and technical training for Business Development Officers.
- Mentor BusinessDevelopment Officers to improve Farmer engagement capability, Productknowledge, Field demonstration quality & Problem diagnosis and solutionrecommendation
- MonitorBusiness Development Officers effectiveness through defined performanceindicators, including farmer reach, product reliability index, anddemonstration outcomes.
- Buildcapability for structured agronomic problem solving and advisory skills.
- Conduct capabilityintervention & if repeated execution gaps are observed among BDOs, the SMEmust elevate capability concerns to the regional manager along with proposedaction plan.
CrossFunctional Collaboration
- Provide product and agronomic supportto sales teams to strengthen market penetration.
- Share monthly structured insightsreport with Regional Sales Manager and Marketing teams covering productperformance, farmer feedback, field issues, and improvement recommendations
- Ensure alignment between productpositioning and field execution.
- Collaborate with R&D and Marketingteams to support new product validation and field trials.
- Share agronomic observations andfield-level data required for product improvement.
- Establish structuredprotocols and processes for field trials, including site selection, farmerengagement, and data collection.
Hiring& Capability Building
- Support hiring of Business DevelopmentOfficers through structured interviews and competency evaluation.
- Participate in candidate assessmentfocusing on Agronomic knowledge, Farmer engagement capability &Problem-solving ability
- Track early performance ofnew hires and provide structured mentorship during onboarding period.

Postgraduate degree in Agriculture (M.Sc. Agriculture or equivalent) Preference for specialization in Agronomy / Entomology / Plant Pathology / CropProtection. Candidates must possess strong academic background from recognizedagricultural institutions.
