You will support not only a large academic community, but a vibrant and diverse student body.

The Department of Psychology is recognised as one of the leading and most accomplished departments at York, with a global reputation for excellence in both teaching and research. We are committed to fostering a supportive environment where staff and students can thrive, contribute their best, and achieve their full potential. We take great pride in holding the Athena Swan Gold Award.

Role

We are seeking three Administrators with a passion for delivering the highest quality service to students and staff. You will work with a team of other Student Services Administrators to provide the day-to-day operational tasks that support the student lifecycle from pre-entry to graduation (UG, PGT, PGR).

This is a demanding and varied role and involves extensive contact and communications with both staff and students and so a polite and helpful attitude is essential. You will need excellent organisational and interpersonal skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities, respond effectively to changing demands, and work to tight deadlines. A commitment to delivering an outstanding level of customer service is essential, alongside a proactive, collaborative, and solutions-focused approach.

Flexibility is an important aspect of the role. All members of the Student Services Team are expected to support colleagues across the wider team, particularly during periods of peak activity or staff absence.

The Three Roles That Are Available Are
  • 1 x full-time, open contract
  • 1 x full-time, FTC contract until 31st August 2027
  • 1 x 0.8fte, FTC contract until 29th February 2028

The Faculty operates a flexible working environment, including a flexi-time scheme. Subject to operational requirements and successful completion of probation, opportunities for some hybrid / remote working may also be available, with the majority of time spent working on campus.

Skills, Experience & Qualification Needed
  • Experience of coordinating operational processes or defined service areas, including the ability to organise workloads, prioritise tasks and meet deadlines in a busy environment.
  • Ability to respond positively to change, supporting colleagues and students sensitively and constructively during periods of transition
  • Communicate effectively in verbal and written formats, including the use of a variety of digital tools.
  • Use digital technologies including Google applications and/or Microsoft Office.
  • Works collaboratively with others.
  • Level 2 qualification including Maths and English. (Qualifications at this level include five GCSEs at grade A*-C/ grade 4-9. Please view the full list.) We also welcome applicants with equivalent non-UK qualifications or equivalent professional experience.
