Job summary

9E Global in Mumbai seeks an experienced Steel Structural Engineer to lead design and construction stages for projects of varying sizes. You will liaise with the design team, ensure code compliance across American, European and Indian standards, and deliver technical reports and calculations on time.

Minimum 3-6 years in engineering consultancy, Master’s or Chartered Engineer preferred, with Middle East project exposure highly valued.

Responsibilities

• Represent the practice at project level and take responsibility for assigned projects.
• Manage the design and construction stages of a project.
• Role will normally be as Steel Structural Engineer on projects of varying sizes.
• Liaise with the design team and attend team meetings to discuss progress.
• Deliver work to a fee agreed with a Project Manager.
• Ensure compliance with American, European and Indian steel design codes.
• Prepare design basis reports and calculation reports.
• Review and comment on deliverables produced by Graduate Engineers & Technicians.
• Contribute to project proposals and allocate internal/external resources.

Job description

Project Role

• Able to represent the practice at project level.
• Demonstrate ability to take responsibility for assigned projects.
• Ability to manage the design and construction stages of a project.
• Role will normally be as Steel Structural Engineer on projects of various sizes. On major/more complex projects could take the role of designing structural steel frameworks.
• Liase and correspond day to day with design team.
• Attend team/job meetings to discuss progress/deadlines/detail design issues.
• Be responsible for delivering work to a fee agreed with a Project Manager.
• Familiarity with industry standards and codes related to steel structural design including American, European and Indian.
• Proficiency in using Engineering software applications such as ETAB, SAP-2000, STAAD Pro, Idea Statica, Hilti etc.
• Report to Lead Structural Engineer/Principal Structural Engineer.

Core responsibilities for the task include: -

• Deliver assigned tasks to agreed deadline and fee.
• Contribute to task profitability by working efficiently within budget.
• Ensure the quality of the work through diligent checking.
• Support the preparation of client/project proposals.
• Construct project teams from internal and external resources.
• Achieve 95% chargeable time.

• Have knowledge of concept design, buildability, detailed design, construction techniques, procurement routes, risk assessment and claim assessment.
• Strong understanding of steel structure design with connection design as per codes and standards.
• Knowledge of Erection engineering will be an added advantage.
• Preparation of Design basis Report and calculation report.
• Working knowledge of specifications and other project documentation; assist in their preparation as per project requirements.
• Responsible for producing drawings/calculations/specifications/reports for assigned tasks.
• Review and comment on deliverables produced by Graduate Engineers & Technicians at key stages through a project.
• Familiar with architects/service engineers/etc. drawings, specification and coordination with them for smooth functioning of project.
• Support Quality Management (QA) within the team by applying quality procedures and checks.
• Have knowledge of our delivery in CAD standards and 3D working.

QHSE Responsibilities

• Understand, implement and follow 9E QHSE policies.
• Implement and coordinate QHSE procedures in your workplace.
• Comply with local regulatory authority guidelines and laws pertaining to QHSE.
• Report any QHSE incidents immediately to 9E QHSE Dept. and to legal authorities if required.
• Abide Client/Contractor QHSE requirements and acquire site induction before mobilizing at sites.
