Job Overview
We are looking for an experienced Store Development & Projects Manager to manage the end-to-end development and execution of retail stores across India.
The role will involve managing projects from site assessment and store planning through civil work, interior fit-outs, contractor and vendor management, quality control, cost management, and final store handover.
The ideal candidate should have strong hands-on experience in retail store development, civil construction, commercial interiors, project execution, BOQ, estimation, contractor management, and site supervision.
This is a practical store execution and project management role, not a pure architecture or design position.
Key Responsibilities
Store Development & Site Assessment
- Visit project sites and assess construction and execution requirements.
- Prepare store development briefs covering civil, interiors, electrical, HVAC, lighting, signage, flooring, fixtures, and other requirements.
- Review layouts and drawings and identify execution-related challenges.
- Coordinate with architects, designers, consultants, landlords, and internal teams.
Civil & Interior Store Execution
Manage end-to-end execution of:
- Civil modifications
- Flooring and ceiling
- Painting and finishing
- Carpentry and furniture
- Glass and partitions
- Electrical and lighting
- HVAC and plumbing
- Fire-safety-related works
- Signage and façade
- Retail fixtures and fit-outs
Ensure all work is completed according to approved design, drawings, specifications, quality standards, timelines, and budgets.
Contractor & Vendor Management
- Identify and coordinate civil, interior, electrical, HVAC, and specialist contractors.
- Obtain and compare vendor quotations.
- Prepare and review BOQs, measurements, estimates, and project costs.
- Negotiate with contractors and vendors.
- Monitor contractor performance, quality, timelines, and deliverables.
- Develop and maintain a reliable contractor/vendor network.
Project Management
- Manage projects from site handover to store opening.
- Prepare project schedules and execution plans.
- Monitor daily and weekly project progress.
- Coordinate multiple contractors and stakeholders.
- Identify project risks, delays, and execution challenges.
- Implement corrective actions to ensure timely completion.
- Maintain project documentation and completion records.
Cost & Quality Control
- Prepare project cost estimates and budgets.
- Monitor expenditure against approved budgets.
- Review contractor measurements and bills.
- Control variations, additional works, and cost overruns.
- Conduct regular site inspections.
- Ensure quality of materials, workmanship, dimensions, and finishes.
- Prepare snag lists and ensure timely closure.
Store Handover
- Coordinate with Retail Operations, IT, Security, Visual Merchandising, and other teams.
- Ensure all civil and interior works are completed before the store opening date.
- Coordinate final testing and commissioning where required.
- Ensure the store is opening-ready and fully prepared for merchandising and operations.
- Complete final handover and close pending project issues.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate should have:
- 5-10 years of experience in store development, retail projects, civil construction, commercial interiors, or project execution.
- Hands-on experience in retail stores, showrooms, commercial spaces, restaurants, offices, malls, or similar projects.
- Strong knowledge of civil construction and interior fit-outs.
- Experience in contractor and vendor management.
- Good understanding of BOQ, estimation, measurements, costing, and contractor bills.
- Ability to read and understand architectural/interior drawings.
- Knowledge of civil, electrical, HVAC, flooring, ceiling, carpentry, lighting, and finishing works.
- Strong project planning, coordination, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
- Willingness to travel extensively to project locations across India.
Educational Qualification
A degree in Civil Engineering, Interior Design, Architecture, Construction Management, or a related field is preferred.
Strong practical experience may be considered in place of a formal architecture qualification.
