Job summary

HCLTech in Bengaluru seeks a storage backup specialist with hands-on EMC Unity 500 experience and SAN/NAS proficiency to manage data protection across locations.

You will operate backup tools such as EMC NetWorker, Commvault Simpana and NetApp SnapManager, perform quarterly DR drills, health checks, and incident resolution to ensure data recoverability and performance.

Qualifications

• Experience with EMC Unity storage and SAN/NAS protocols.
• Hands-on backup and restore using data protection tools.
• Experience with SQL/Oracle DB backups and DR testing.

• Initiating the Backup using EMC NetWorker (Data Domain).
• Performing Quarterly Backup/BCP/DR Mock Drills activity to validate Backed up data.
• Daily Health Checks on all the SAN devices in all Locations.
• Troubleshooting the Backup issues like Network issue, FS issues towards fixing backup issues.
• Restore the files or folders with respective successful backup.
• Using NetApp DTA migration tool migrating the Data from from IBM XIV storage to NetApp SAN storage.

Job description

Hands on experience on EMC Unity 500 storage with Both SAN & NAS protocols

• Initiating the Backup using EMC Networker (Data Domain)
• Performing Quarterly Backup/BCP/DR Mock Drills activity to validate Backed up data.
• Performing Daily Health Checks on all the SAN devices in all Locations.
• Troubleshooting the Backup issues like Network issue, FS issues towards fixing backup issues.
• Restore the files or folders with respective successful backup
• Experience on Commvault Simpana Tool to imitate the client backup and scheduling the policy.
• Taking the SQL, Oracle DB level archive or full DB backups using NetApp snapamanager for schedules like hourly,daily,weekly or monthly based on client retention policies.
• Worked on DFM tool for managing the datasets and policy schedules for backup filers or hosts
• Restored the files or folders using snapmanager or snapvault backup or using DFM tool
• Using NetApp DTA migration tool migrating the Data from from IBM XIV storage to NetApp SAN storage.
• Installing and Configuring Commvault iData agents for Windows file system Unix and Linux system, SQL, Oracle, Exchange, NAS (NDMP), VMware Backup and restores through Commvault.
• Configuring backup on Cluster Environment.
• Disk Library Configurations.
• Troubleshooting library and magnetic library related issue.
• Updating periodically Service pack and patch for all the Client and CommServer.
• On daily basis working on assigned Incident and Change tickets.
• Participating daily backup failure team meeting and working as per the strategy plan.
• Troubleshooting Commvault problems within the given SLA.
• Troubleshooting failed and pending jobs in the Commvault Environment Extensively.
• Working on Archive retention, and backup set.
• Working on Storage/ Schedule Policy Concepts.
• Responsible for all disk-based backups to ensure data is appropriately backup and recoverable.
• Troubleshooting communication/ functional issue against the Tape Libraries, Media Agents and COMM server.
• Configure magnetic libraries/Shared disk devices.
• Checking the Communication paths and accessibility by trouble shooting all Network related issues and Domain related issues.
• Tape Libraries, Media Agents and COMM server.
• Maintaining, monitoring, and troubleshooting the backup issues.
• Troubleshooting and resolving issues for the Tape Libraries.
• Backup Logs Analysis for troubleshooting and fixing the Backup issues.
• Performing COMM Server DR test as per DR test Scheduled.
• Worked on creating the local/remote snap mirror relation from one storage to other storage or same storage
• Backup & restoration of the Brocade\Fabric Switch configurations.
• Implementation of storage allocation polices using client environment for avoiding the performance issue.
• Creating volumes, quotas for Qtree and giving permissions for requested servers on for respective mount points.
• Increasing/modifying quotas and exports based on client requirements
• Creating CIFS and NFS shares for requested users for accessing the shares
• Taking the SAP DB level archive or full DB backups using NetApp snapamanager for SAP based on schedules like hourly,daily,weekly or monthly based on client retention policies.
• Worked on DFM tool for managing the datasets and policy schedules for backup filers or hosts
• Restored the files or folders using snapmanager or snapvault backup or using DFM tool
• Creating quotas and giving permissions for requested servers
• Increasing/modifying quotas and volumes migrations

• Symmetric remote data facility through symmir and symclone. And Mounting BCV volumes to backup server & then BCV backup.
• Storage devices monitoring and control and Monitoring System Performance and Interact with clients/customer through calls and chats. And Provide full SAN documentation and recommendations.
• Performing Health Checks on all the SAN devices in the environment.
• Provide proactive recommendations to the customer for improving storage operations and/or effective use of EMC storage solutions to help maximize their satisfaction
• Supporting enterprise Storage Area Networks (SAN) in critical environment.
• Handling and managing all the activities in a shift.
• Supporting enterprise Storage Area Networks (SAN) in critical environment.
• Worked on SAP refresh for restoring the data from mentioned date of backup from storage end.
• LUNs and Meta LUN creation and, Provisioning of LUN over the Unity storage sub systems using Navisphere Manager.
• Daily trouble shooting of EMC/NetApp/IBN storage equipment and Brocade and Cisco switches.
• Conversion of Standard devices to BCV and dynamic devices and Allocate BCV devices as per the business needs and Time Finder Business Continuity Solutions.
• Configure and fixing the Power path and Multipaths maintaining.
• Monitoring System Performance and Scheduling tasks as per the client requirement.
• Interact with clients/customer through calls and chats. And Provide full SAN documentation and recommendations.
• Preparing the Monthly Capacity reports and other weekly or daily basis reports based on Client requirements.
