MSF South Asia in Mumbai is seeking a Stock Management Specialist to lead stock strategy within the APU and ensure optimal stock levels, locations, and availability. You will collaborate with Europe teams to improve forecasting tools and inventory models.
Based in Mumbai with a hybrid work approach, you will monitor inventory, coordinate with Logistics Service Providers, and contribute to the India warehouse setup. Strong ERP and Excel skills, plus humanitarian experience, are preferred.

As a non‑profit, self‑governed movement of over 63,000 dedicated professionals, we provide emergency life‑saving medical assistance to people affected by armed conflict, natural disasters, disease outbreaks, and exclusion from healthcare.

Our commitment to professionalism and humanity can mean the difference between life and death.
The Logistics Department provides logistics and technical support to the MSF‑OCA (Operational Center Amsterdam) medical humanitarian programs conducted in the various project countries. The department consists of several units, including the European Supply Center - Amsterdam Procurement Unit (ESC‑APU).
This unit is responsible for sourcing, procurement, and processing orders for supplies to 26 project countries in accordance with the Service Level Agreements.
The Stock Management Specialist is a member of the Stock Management Team within APU and is based in the South Asia Supply Hub (SASH) in Mumbai. The role works in close collaboration with APU colleagues in Europe to ensure the right stock assortment, in the right quantities, and in the right locations. It also contributes to improving the Inventory Model and Demand Forecasting Tool. Together, the team actively analyses the supply chain in terms of consumption, quality, availability, vendor lead times, shelf life, critical items, supply risks, and costs.
At the international level, and in line with MSF's Organizational Supply Strategy (OSS), the Stock Management team works closely with the two other European Supply Centres (ESCs), in Brussels and Bordeaux, to strengthen cooperation and mutualization between the three Stock Management teams. At the same time, the team operates within an evolving supply and distribution network in which regional supply hubs, including the South Asia Supply Hub (SASH), play an increasing role.
In the role of Stock Management Specialist, you are responsible for the stock strategy for your assigned product categories within APU. You coordinate and carry out stock management activities, including defining the optimal stock assortment, stock levels, and stock locations, as well as coordinating stock counts and managing returned goods. You ensure a high level of availability and service for the stocked assortment, while balancing inventory value and minimizing write-offs. From its regional location, the position also contributes to the gradual development of stock management arrangements related to the planned warehouse in India.
You are constantly looking for inventory optimization opportunities and contribute to the development of models, tools and processes to support more efficient and accurate stock management. As a team player, you collaborate with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders, working together at solving issues at hand and improving ways of working together.
In this role your knowledge, experience and hard work directly contribute to advancing MSF's social mission: assisting people around the world affected by conflict, epidemics, natural disasters, or exclusion from health care.
You work to optimise the availability of goods and lead times within the APU supply chain process, while balancing inventory value and keeping disposals to a minimum. In close collaboration with Tactical Procurement Specialists, you implement sourcing strategies in line with operational needs.
By continuously monitoring and analysing inventory status, you anticipate coverage gaps, shortages, and stock approaching expiry. You advise stakeholders, propose mitigation measures, and take action where needed.
To foster a healthy work‑life balance we work with a hybrid working approach, combining in‑person collaboration and remote work in line with team and operational needs. Coming together at our office in Mumbai allows us to have informal exchanges and chance encounters, share ideas more freely and solve challenges together in real‑time.
We are looking for an enthusiastic, integer person who enjoys working in a team and working with a wide range of stakeholders. Looking at how the world is evolving, the work environment can be at times hectic and unpredictable, which make flexibility, thinking out of the box and eagerness to learn, important qualities.
