Job summary

Sloan Global is seeking an experienced Senior Tekla Checker to own the final QA of structural steel models and fabrication drawings. You will ensure models and drawings are accurate, compliant, coordinated, and client-ready, while supporting the team in delivering high-quality project outputs.

The role involves mentoring junior checkers, resolving discrepancies, and contributing to delivery planning for international projects from Chennai.

Qualifications

• Strong practical knowledge of Tekla Structures.
• Excellent understanding of structural steel models and fabrication/detail drawings.
• Ability to independently perform comprehensive model and drawing checking.
• Minimum 3 years of experience working on Australian steel detailing projects.
• Strong ability to identify inconsistencies between structural, architectural, model, and drawing information.
• Strong knowledge of structural steel detailing and fabrication requirements.
• Excellent attention to detail with strong quality ownership and technical judgment.

Responsibilities

• Independently perform complete checking cycles for Tekla structural steel models and drawings.
• Review models and drawings against structural and architectural design documentation.
• Identify and resolve modelling, detailing, dimensional, connection, and drawing discrepancies before submission.
• Ensure deliverables comply with project drawings, specifications, standards, and detailing requirements.
• Perform thorough quality checks and identify potential issues before client submission.
• Investigate recurring errors, perform root-cause analysis, and implement preventive measures.
• Guide and mentor junior checkers, detailers, and modelling teams to improve overall quality.
• Support project teams with delivery planning, scheduling, and technical risk identification.
• Take ownership of the final quality sign-off before models and drawings are released to the client.
