Job summary

ExxonMobil India Careers is looking for an experienced engineer skilled in thermal-hydraulic and mechanicaldesign evaluations for heat exchangers. The role requires at least 3 years of experience in thermal and mechanical design, with proven capabilities in troubleshooting performance issues in the oil and gas industry.

Ideal candidates will have a Bachelor of Engineering in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering, strong knowledge of industry standards, and proficiency with relevant engineering software tools.

Qualifications

  • At least 3 years of experience in thermal and mechanical design of heat exchangers.
  • Experience in the oil and gas industry, especially in heat transfer engineering.
  • Strong knowledge of industry standards such as TEMA, API 660/661, ASME Section VIII.

Responsibilities

  • Perform thermal-hydraulic design calculations for new and existing heat exchangers.
  • Troubleshoot performance and leakage issues in heat exchangers.
  • Monitor heat exchanger performance and propose corrective actions.

Job description

Job Overview

The role involves performing thermal-hydraulic and mechanical design evaluations of heat exchangers, including reboilers and condensers, ensuring compliance with standards and operational requirements. It also includes troubleshooting performance issues, reviewing vendor designs, and applying pressure vessel design principles to support reliable and efficient heat exchanger operation.

Responsibilities
  • Perform thermal-hydraulic design calculations and analysis for new and existing heat exchangers.
  • Review and design mechanical aspects of heat exchangers to ensure compliance with standards and operational requirements.
  • Troubleshoot performance and leakage issues in heat exchangers and recommend effective solutions.
  • Monitor heat exchanger performance, identify issues, and propose corrective actions.
  • Review and evaluate vendor design packages for compliance and quality.
  • Design reboilers and condensers for various process applications.
  • Apply working knowledge of mechanical design principles for pressure vessels.
  • Travel up to 10% of time to sites or vendor fabrication shops.
Skills and Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Engineering in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering.
  • At least 3 years of experience in thermal and mechanical design of heat exchangers.
  • Experience in technical responsible roles in heat transfer engineering, surveillance, or inspection activities in the oil and gas industry.
  • Proven experience in the design, fabrication, and troubleshooting of various heat exchanger types (Shell and Tube, Air‑Cooled, Plate‑Type).
  • Strong knowledge of industry standards and codes such as TEMA, API 660/661, ASME Section VIII Division 1 & 2.
  • Proficiency with engineering software tools including HTRI, ASPEN EDR, Pro‑II, HYSYS, and PV‑Elite.
Preferred Qualifications / Experiences
  • Detailed design knowledge of pressure vessels, piping, and valves.
