Job summary

Daya Hospital Ltd & Speciality Surgical Centre in Thrissur, Kerala, is seeking an Emergency Staff Nurse to join its Emergency and Nursing department. The role focuses on rapid assessment, acute care, and coordination with physicians during medical emergencies.

Ideal candidates have 2–5 years of experience, hold GNM or B.Sc Nursing with Nursing Council registration, and can work in a fast-paced, high-stakes environment.

Qualifications

  • 2–5 years of nursing experience in emergency settings.
  • GNM or B.Sc Nursing with valid Nursing Council Registration.
  • Ability to work in a high-pressure Emergency Department.

Responsibilities

  • Provide immediate nursing care to emergency and trauma patients.
  • Perform initial nursing assessment and monitor vital signs.
  • Prioritize patient care according to clinical urgency and emergency protocols.
  • Administer medications, injections, IV fluids, and treatments as prescribed.
  • Assist emergency physicians during examinations and procedures.
  • Prepare patients for diagnostic investigations and emergency interventions.
  • Assist with airway management, resuscitation, and emergency procedures.
  • Participate in CPR, code blue, and advanced life-support activities.
  • Monitor critically ill patients and promptly report changes in condition.
  • Maintain accurate emergency nursing records and clinical documentation.
  • Assist with wound care, dressing, suturing support, and other emergency procedures.
  • Coordinate patient transfers to ICU, OT, wards, diagnostics, or specialty departments.
  • Ensure emergency equipment, crash carts, medications, and supplies are readily available.
  • Follow infection-control, isolation, and biomedical waste-management protocols.
  • Provide emotional support and basic information to patients and attendants.
  • Maintain effective communication with doctors, technicians, paramedics, and other nursing staff.
  • Assist with admission, discharge, referral, and transfer formalities.
  • Maintain patient privacy, dignity, and confidentiality.
  • Participate in emergency preparedness drills, audits, and quality-improvement programs.
  • Perform additional duties assigned by the Emergency Department Incharge or Nursing Supervisor
