Job summary

Michelman is seeking a dedicated Accounting Specialist to join our Shared Services Center in Mumbai. This role reports directly to the Asia Regional Controller and is integral to accurate accounting and compliance.

We seek a proactive, cross-functional communicator who will support month-end close and intercompany activities. You will learn and grow within a global operations environment, collaborating with multiple departments while applying accounting guidance and ensuring robust documentation

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting required
• 2–4 years of experience in accounting
• Knowledge of US GAAP preferred
• Proactive self-starter with good communication
• Ability to work across departments and levels of staff

Responsibilities

• Prepare and review complex journal entries and reconciliations (accruals, prepaids, fixed assets, leases, intercompany)
• Analyze account activity to identify root causes of reconciling items or unusual balances
• Support month-end close with cross-functional coordination
• Apply accounting guidance from regional/global accounting teams
• Support audit and tax processes with explanations and documentation
• Recommend improvements to GL processes and controls

Michelman is seeking a dedicated Accounting Specialist to join our Shared Services Center. This critical role, reporting directly to the Asia Regional Controller, is integral to our daily operations, ensuring precise accounting and compliance. We are looking for a proactive individual who is eager to learn, excels in cross-departmental communication, and applies critical thinking to their tasks. This position offers an excellent foundation for those looking to start or expand their career in accounting. Associates working as a part of the Shared Services Center will help to support our global operations in the US, Luxembourg, Belgium, Singapore, China, and India.

Primary Responsibilities

• Prepare and review more complex journal entries and reconciliations, including accruals, prepaids, fixed assets, leases, and intercompany transactions.
• Analyze account activity and fluctuations to identify root causes of reconciling items or unusual balances.
• Support month-end close by coordinating closely with cross-functional teams and ensuring dependencies are addressed.
• Apply accounting guidance provided by regional controllership or global accounting for assigned areas.
• Support audit and tax processes by providing explanations, documentation, and follow-up for assigned accounts.
• Recommend improvements to efficiency, documentation, or controls within assigned GL processes, supporting implementation of approved changes.

• Advantage to have US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
• Self-starter with innate curiosity combined with personal and professional initiative
• Good organizational and time management skills
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to effectively and collaboratively work with various levels of staff and management

Education and Experience

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting
• 2-4 Years of experience
