vConstruct is seeking an experienced Senior Modeler with substantial Tekla Structures expertise in structural steel detailing to deliver fabrication-ready models and drawings in Chennai, India.

The role combines hands-on modelling, design interpretation, constructability reviews, and mentoring of junior staff, working closely with project leads and BIM/VDC teams to ensure high-quality, clash-free deliverables in line with client and code requirements.

Qualifications

• Diploma or bachelor's degree in civil engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related discipline; equivalent experience may be considered.
• 8+ years of experience in structural steel detailing with significant 3D modelling experience.
• Strong hands-on experience with Tekla Structures, preferably on U.S.-based structural steel projects.
• Good working knowledge of structural steel detailing, fabrication, and erection practices.
• Strong knowledge of AISC standards and U.S. detailing practices.
• Experience working with engineers, fabricators, PMs, checkers, and multidisciplinary project teams.
• Demonstrated ability to provide technical guidance or mentoring to junior/intermediate modelling resources.

Responsabilités

• Support project initiation, setup, estimates, model readiness, and project kickoff.
• Review client detailing manuals, project standards, details and specifications for 3D modelling requirements.
• Interpret structural drawings, specifications, addenda, RFIs to apply design intent.
• Coordinate modelling tasks, internal schedules, planned hours, and milestone requirements.
• Model primary and secondary structural steel including embeds, stairs, handrails, ladders, etc.
• Review design documents for missing information and raise RFIs for queries.
• Collaborate with project leads and teams to resolve technical issues timely.
• Provide day-to-day technical guidance to junior modelers.
• Monitor modelling progress and communicate risks to project leadership.
• Incorporate revisions and client comments into models and deliverables.
• Support review and release of final deliverables per quality processes and client requirements.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to improve quality and efficiency.

vConstruct is seeking an experienced Senior Modeler with strongstructural steel detailing expertise and advanced knowledge of Tekla Structuresand AISC standards. This role is responsible for independently deliveringcomplex modelling and detailing work while providing technical guidance andsupport to other modelling resources.Therole combines hands‑on technical delivery, design interpretation,constructability, coordination, quality ownership, and team mentoring. TheSenior Modeller works closely with Project Leads, Project Managers, Checkers,Engineers, BIM/VDC teams, and other stakeholders to develop accurate,coordinated, and fabrication-ready models and drawings in accordance withproject requirements, client requirements, fabrication standards, andapplicable codes.

KeyResponsibilities:

• Support projectinitiation, project setup, preparation of estimates, model readiness, andproject kickoff.
• Review clientdetailing manuals, project standards, details and specifications to helpestablish necessary documentation for effective 3D modelling anddetailing.
• Thoroughly Interpret structuraldrawings, specifications, addendum, reference models, RFI’s and otherdesign information to understand and apply design intent.
• Support projectdelivery planning by coordinating modelling tasks, internal schedules,planned hours, and milestone requirements.
• Model primary andsecondary structural steel for critical items, complex connections,miscellaneous items such as embeds, stairs, handrails, ladders etc.
• Review designdocuments for missing information, discrepancies, conflicts, and potentialconstructability issues and raise RFI’s for technical queries.
• Coordinate withProject Leads, Project Managers, Checkers, Engineers, BIM/VDC teams, andother stakeholders to resolve technical issues timely.
• Provide day-to-daytechnical guidance to Junior Modelers and Modelers.
• Support project teamsin monitoring modelling progress, productivity, and delivery readiness andproactively communicate technical risks, schedule risks, challenges, andpotential impacts to project leadership timely.
• Incorporate approveddesign revisions, RFIs, and client comments into models and deliverablesin a controlled manner and track the COR’s.
• Support the review andrelease of final deliverables in accordance with established projectquality processes and client requirements.
• Collaborate withcheckers to identify opportunities to improve modelling quality,productivity, consistency, and delivery efficiency. Maintain a strongfocus on first-pass quality and minimizing downstream rework.
• Collaborate withmultidisciplinary teams to support coordinated project delivery.
• Support effectiveinformation management, maintain consistency in model standards,numbering, templates, reports, and project-specific workflows.
• Contribute to thedevelopment and improvement of modelling standards, procedures,checklists, templates, and workflows.
• Support thedevelopment and use of Tekla custom components, auto connections,templates, reports, and other productivity tools.
• Share knowledge, bestpractices, workflows, and lessons learned with the broader team.
• Support technicaltraining, skill development, and onboarding of new team members asrequired.
